MGA and Alderney Gambling Control Commission renew collaboration for safer gaming

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) have recently renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The initial agreement, forged in 2013, serves to strengthen cooperative initiatives between the two gaming regulatory bodies. The AGCC, established in 2000, functions as Alderney’s authoritative gaming regulatory body, overseeing gaming businesses by managing licensing processes and enforcing industry regulations.

The renewed MoU underscores the commitment of both the MGA and the AGCC towards collaboration, with a focus on enhancing the efficiency of their respective regulatory functions. The shared objectives of the regulators include preventing criminal activities, ensuring consumer protection, and safeguarding vulnerable individuals against gambling addiction.

With the cross-border nature of the gaming industry in mind, both the MGA and the AGCC acknowledge the need for international cooperation between gaming regulatory bodies. This recognition highlights their commitment to addressing challenges that go beyond geographical boundaries in the sector.

MGA CEO Carl Brincat, who will be succeeded by Charles Mizzi at the end of January commented:

“The renewal of the MoU with the AGCC continues to reaffirm our shared commitment towards supervising a safe and responsible gaming ecosystem across the board.”

Andrew Gellatly, the Executive Director of the AGCC, echoed these sentiments, saying,

“With this MOU, we look forward to continuing and strengthening our valued collaboration with the MGA, to the benefit of both players and stakeholders.”
