Giants eye revenge as Cowboys head North

As we head into game week 4 of the NFL season, two of the most historic and well-known teams face off. The Dallas Cowboys are heading north to New Jersey for the latest chapter in their decades-long rivalry with the New York Giants.

Both teams have had slow starts, with identical 1-2 records so far this season. The Cowboys, however, are considered favourites due to their recent dominance over the Giants. Dallas has won the last six meetings and thirteen of the last fourteen, dating back to 2017. Over the last five meetings, Dallas has outscored the Giants by 102 points.

In their last two matchups, the Cowboys overwhelmed the Giants with a combined score of 89-17. However, Dallas has struggled defensively this season, losing their last two games. Meanwhile, the Giants will be aiming to build on their thrilling 21-15 victory over the Cleveland Browns in game week 3.

“To play meaningful football in December, you have to win the division games,” said Giants’ left tackle Andrew Thomas. “You try not to look too far forward or too far behind in the past. We get a win, then things look different.”

On the injury front, the Giants currently have seven players unavailable, with Andru Phillips and Adoree’ Jackson missing practice ahead of the clash. The Cowboys have five players sidelined, with Markquese Bell and Caelen Carson not participating in preparations for the journey north.

The early weather report for Thursday night suggests rain showers throughout the evening, which could impact both teams’ passing games. This might give the Giants an edge with their rushing attack. The Giants are hoping to beat the Cowboys for the first time since Brian Daboll became head coach. Daboll will need to get creative with his play-calling if wet conditions at MetLife Stadium hinder his quarterback’s passing accuracy. Focusing on the run game could make all the difference, potentially giving the home team the advantage in this matchup.

The match between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants will take place on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 8:15 PM EST at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. It will be streamed live on Amazon Prime Video.
