Las Vegas-based operator IGT Global Solutions is expanding its presence in LatAm with a 20-year exclusive contract to operate the lottery in the State of Minas Gerais in Brazil. The licence holds a renewal option to extend for another 20 years. Instant games will be launched by year end.
IGT Global Solutions Corporation is a subsidiary of International Game Technology PLC and Scientific Games LLC. The consortium has been formed with a Brazilian local partner SAGA Consultoria e Representações Comerciais e Empresariais S/A. The result is that instant and passive games will be accessible to the south eastern state in Brazil where lottery and instant games such as Keno are still the only legal form of gambling.

Instant games and passive lottery operations, instant game planning and production will be managed as a joint effort whereas software management will be supplied by Scientific Games.

This will maximize revenues for the beneficiary programmes of the Loteria do Estado de Minas Gerais (LEMG). The Cia. de Loterias de Minas Gerais, as it was then known, has been established and is one of the oldest lottery providers in LatAM. For example in 1923 when the lottery ran once a month, it made its first two millionaires. In 1939 the Governor of the State issued a degree to incorporate the Secretariat of Finance and the LEMG was established.
