Mecca Bingo’s inaugural cross-channel slots tournament

Mecca Bingo recently marked a significant milestone by hosting its inaugural cross-channel slots tournament. The event took place at their club in Luton, Bedfordshire, and was sponsored by Blueprint Gaming.

The tournament was a unique blend of the digital and physical gaming world, attracting slot players from both online platforms and retail locations. The event kicked off with several qualifying rounds, which culminated in a grand finale featuring the top 16 contenders. The final round was a thrilling showdown between eight online players and eight retail players, all vying for a share of the £25,000 ($31,905) prize pool. The ultimate victor would walk away with a handsome £10,000.

The lucky winner of the grand prize was Andrew Thorpe, who described the entire experience as surreal. He expressed his surprise and delight, stating, “I expected to go out in the first round as I’m not usually that lucky! Just getting to the final was amazing.”

Robert Lee, the Head of Meccabingo.com, expressed his satisfaction with the event, stating, “It was great to see players from across the country come together to experience the joy of what Mecca has to offer… A special thanks to our tournament sponsors, Blueprint Gaming and of course a huge congratulations to our Slots champion, Andrew. We look forward to hosting our next tournament very soon.”

Bridging online and retail slot gaming

Jack Lawson, Account Manager at Blueprint Gaming, echoed these sentiments, adding, “It was a pleasure to be involved with and sponsor the Mecca Bingo Slots Tournament 2024 in Luton… We’re very much looking forward to showcasing more of our product portfolio at events in the future.”

This tournament is just one of several new initiatives rolled out by Mecca Bingo this year. Earlier, the company launched ‘Spingo’, a unique fusion of spin classes and bingo at its retail locations. They also introduced free line dancing classes at their venues, tapping into the recent ‘Cowboy Core’ trend in the UK.

In a recent partnership with ITV, Mecca Bingo created digital scratchcards themed around the popular morning talk show, ‘Loose Women’. In a conversation with the media, Mecca Bingo’s Head of PR and Social Media, Mark Cheevers, discussed the brand’s history of celebrity partnerships and the new challenge of navigating influencer marketing.
