Meet Danny Thomas: Scaling new heights

For this feature, Maria Debrincat interviewed gaming industry veteran Danny Thomas, discussing where the land lies in his career at the moment, and what’s in store for him in the future.

When and where did you start your career in the gaming industry?

I started my first gaming venture back in 2009 through a UK licensed retail operation. I moved to Malta from Dusseldorf Germany in 2010 after 10 years of running a successful Telecoms business and in 2011 I launched my first iGaming operation under the name Euromillions.com.

As the founder of iLottoSolutions, how is your platform giving your clients control over their lottery products?

The iLotto platform was built to cover all types of lottery business, including National lotteries, secondary lotteries, and Lottery Messenger models. We’ve built a lottery engine that gives operators total control over the types of games and payout tables they wish to promote.

One can set up Progressive Jackpots, manage RTP and prize pools, offer a variety of payouts including stake multiples, fixed, percentage-based, or via third-party API. The iLottoSolutions platform is integrated with the leading suppliers of international lottery tickets and providers of jackpot insurance, including insured RNGs with multi-million-dollar jackpots.

We also have a game simulator where we can test all game configs and branding ready for client acceptance.

What is your role at Imprexis Gaming and what is the advantage this brand offers compared to other solution providers?

I founded Imprexis in 2020 and I see my role mainly in product development, managing ideas from concept all the way through to realisation. Simplicity and Scalability are the core values behind Imprexis, this enables us to deliver highly flexible and customisable solutions.

I see real potential in the Free-to-Play player acquisition sector and that’s why we’ve launched this product first, Pay-to-Play Sports Jackpots and Bet Races will follow later this year. Imprexis gaming widgets are simple to set up in the BO and generate a code snippet that operators and affiliates can simply drop on any website.

We also have simple API calls for player registration details and cross-selling. The widgets are fully customisable and available in various templates such as for cricket or high-scoring US sports where the exact score would be impossible to predict, but you can create competitions based on any in-play event.

You can upload promo banners, embed videos, and direct players seamlessly from the widget to your main site logged in and showing your promo offer. Conversions are proving to be off the charts.

Apart from online you also have some experience in the land-based industry, can you tell us more about Gr8odds.com?

Yes, I set up Gr8odds Ltd. together with my brother Richard who has vast experience managing retail operations for the likes of William Hill, Stanley Racing, and Betterbet.

We’re currently operating shops in Wembley and Tonbridge and we’ve managed to survive in an incredibly competitive environment, through the COVID lockdowns and the massive government reduction in FOBT stakes (down from £100 to £2 per bet).

We’ve recently added a telephone “Request a Bet” brand Greatbet.co.uk which I believe has strong potential for growth.

We know you’re involved in various different projects, can you elaborate more about them and how they are in line with your previous experiences?

Yes, my latest project is focusing on Esports under the brand Espkings. The aim is to expand functionality on the Imprexisgaming platform to include various cool Esports products.

It was clear to me that the current Esports offering was not really appealing to the new generation of Esports bettors. We’re launching our Esports solution both as B2B and B2C on the new Wikibet platform and are really excited about this project.

The gaming industry is quite crowded at the moment, do you have any upcoming projects planned that will make you stand out from the crowd?

Espkings.com will be a game-changer in the Esports betting sector.

We will be incorporating all aspects of Esports betting from challenger mode, and live betting to innovative Prop betting markets all wrapped up in an Esports UX design that will stand out from the pack.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when starting out?

Definitely a better understanding of technologies and being able to manage dev teams efficiently.

As an entrepreneur coming from a more marketing background, I’ve had the wool pulled over my head by far too many unscrupulous developers. “
