San Diego fan hits $1.5 million jackpot at airport

A San Diego Padres fan experienced an extraordinary stroke of luck at Harry Reid International Airport, walking away with a staggering $1.5 million (approximately €1.4 million) jackpot. The fortunate event occurred while the unnamed winner was waiting for a flight, trying his luck on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine near Gate E-10 in Terminal 3.

Harry Reid International Airport is one of only two airports in the United States that host slot machines, contributing significantly to the airport’s appeal and revenue. In 2023 alone, the airport generated an impressive $58.5 million (approximately €53.4 million) in gaming revenue. Despite the rarity of such substantial wins, airport officials confirmed that this marks the third jackpot exceeding a million dollars within the past two years.

The lucky winner, visibly ecstatic, posed for a photograph (pictured above) beside the winning machine, which prominently displayed the life-changing prize amount of $1,450,954 (€1,324,575.91).
