Richard Hayward is appointed Managing Director for Betfair

Flutter Entertainment’s UK & Ireland division has announced the promotion of Rich Hayward (in photo above), to Managing Director for Betfair. Prior to assuming this role, Hayward served as the Commercial Director for Betfair in the UK and Ireland from August 2019 to January 2024. His journey with Betfair commenced in 2008 when he joined as a commercial graduate, showcasing his dedication and commitment to the company over the years.

During his 15-year tenure at Betfair, Hayward navigated through various departments, including marketing, commercial, and operations, illustrating his versatile skill set. Over time, he held significant positions such as Head of Operational Performance and Head of Premium, steadily climbing the organizational ladder.

In January 2018, Hayward took on the crucial role of Exchange Business and Pricing Director, demonstrating his expertise in key business areas. By February 2019, he transitioned to the position of Integration Director at Paddy Power Betfair, where he played a pivotal role in planning and executing the integration of Georgian operator Adjarabet into the Flutter Group.

Reflecting on his new role, Hayward expressed his enthusiasm in a LinkedIn post, stating, “The Betfair dream continues. The excitement and enjoyment are as big now as it was for me on day one back in 2008. The culture and the team are such a privilege to be part of, and every day continues to be a thrilling education.”

The announcement coincided with Flutter Entertainment’s latest financial report, revealing a robust 19 percent year-on-year growth for its UK & Ireland division and a commendable 4 percent growth in its international division for Q4 2023. However, Australia experienced a minor setback with a 2 percent decline, while the US market demonstrated remarkable strength, boasting a significant 26 percent year-on-year increase in revenue, reaching £1.14 billion.

As of January 18, 2024, Flutter Entertainment plc (FLTR.L) is actively traded at GBp15,165.00, showcasing a substantial 14.89 percent increase. This corporate reshuffling and the positive financial indicators underscore Flutter’s strategic moves and strong performance in various markets, setting a promising trajectory for the company’s future endeavours.
