Saudi Cup: new sponsor for world’s most valuable horse race

The Sports Boulevard Foundation (SBF) has inked a partnership with the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia (JCSA), making it an official sponsor for the Sports Boulevard Riyadh Dirt Sprint race, one of the races held during the evening of the 2024 Saudi Cup. The Saudi Cup, known as the world’s most valuable horse race, is a prestigious event that attracts the greatest racehorses, jockeys, trainers, and owners from around the globe.

The partnership was signed by JCSA chief executive Ziad Al-Mogren and SBF chief executive Jayne McGivern, in the presence of Prince Bandar bin Khalid Al-Faisal, the chairman of the Equestrian Authority and the JCSA. This marks the second year of Sports Boulevard’s official sponsorship with the Saudi Cup, which this year boasts a combined prize fund of more than $37.35 million, an increase of $2 million from the previous year.

Strategic partnership in the world of horse racing

“Alongside the Sports Boulevard sponsorship of Riyadh Season races, their mission to transform the city of Riyadh and offer state-of-the-art equestrian sports facilities aligns with our ambition of bringing more of Saudi Arabia’s residents into the sport,” said Al-Mogren. He further expressed his anticipation for the collaboration with Sports Boulevard to promote equestrian sports to people across Riyadh City.

Echoing Al-Mogren’s sentiments, McGivern stated, “Creating access to grassroots sports for people across Riyadh and the Kingdom, including horse-riding and other equine activities, is something I am passionate about.” She further emphasized the deep-rooted history of horseracing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with thoroughbred horses descended from Arabian bloodlines.

The Saudi Cup, scheduled to take place on 23 and 24 February at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh, serves as a globally recognized platform to encourage community engagement. Through the partnership, visitors will have ample opportunities to learn more about the Sports Boulevard. Visitors to SBF’s booth will be able to gain insights into how the megaproject will transform health and wellbeing in Riyadh.

This strategic partnership between the Sports Boulevard Foundation and the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia signifies a new chapter in the world of horse racing. It not only enhances the prestige of the Saudi Cup but also promotes equestrian sports and community engagement in Riyadh and beyond.
