Philippine Senator wants foreign aiders of Alice Guo’s escape to face justice

Philippines’ Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero has called for non-Filipinos who assisted Alice Guo and her siblings in escaping from the Philippines to be held accountable.

Escudero expressed doubts over Guo’s claim that no Filipino officials were involved, suggesting there may be other figures, possibly within the government, who helped her flee. He stressed that foreign individuals implicated in her escape, whether they remain in the country or not, should be pursued by the Philippine government. Escudero acknowledged Guo’s claims of receiving threats but emphasised that it depends on how much of the truth she reveals.

Senate’s frustration with Guo’s evasiveness

During a Senate hearing led by the Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, Alice Guo’s reluctance to disclose key information about her escape left the panel frustrated.

Despite her request for an executive session to discuss details, the Senate panel declined, citing her evasive and potentially false testimonies. Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros warned Guo that her request for a private session would only be considered if she provided truthful answers during future hearings.

Guo’s insistence that she is not Chinese, but a Filipino citizen has further strained her credibility, as overwhelming evidence links her to a Chinese identity under the name Guo Hua Ping.

Chinese national allegedly facilitated Guo’s escape

Senate Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada revealed that a Chinese national, allegedly connected to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO), facilitated Alice Guo’s escape from the Philippines. Although Guo initially refused to disclose the identity of her accomplice for security reasons, senators pressed her until she provided a name on paper, which linked the individual to the POGO sector. Estrada hinted that this person, along with others involved, may have already left the country.

Amid ongoing investigations, speculation continues over the true identity of the person who orchestrated Guo’s elaborate escape. During Senate sessions, hints emerged that the mastermind may have orchestrated the escape from abroad, with access to international resources, including yachts.

Senate cites Alice Guo in contempt again

Moreover, Guo has been held in contempt for the second time by the Philippine Senate, following her refusal to answer questions regarding her ties to Chinese criminal syndicates and her mysterious escape from the Philippines two months ago. Arrested in Indonesia last week and deported to the Philippines, Guo was found with a disguised appearance, according to authorities.
