Bermuda launches its fourth land-based casino

Bermuda kickstart 2021 by announcing a new casino in St. George’s, St. Catherine’s Beach

Bermuda is pleased to announce that it will be opening its first land-based casino in 2021, making it a total of 4 land-based casinos so far. Prime Minister of Bermuda, David Burt, informed the National press that ‘the Island Nation will open its first casino this year, making a total of four casino resorts to be developed.’

The bill for the Bermuda Casino was approved with no opposition in 2016, the Prime Minister explained that the reason it’s taken so long is due to the Island’s banks delaying procedures.

While speaking to the Royal Gazette, the Prime Minister said:

‘I am expecting certainly that we will have a casino, at least one casino, operating in Bermuda this year and we will continue to work on that. But it has not been easy. If it would have been easy, we would not be sitting here in 2021, about seven years after the former Government passed the Casino Gaming Act, without a casino in the Country.’

The casino is expected to be in the St. Regis Bermuda Resort, situated in St. Catherine’s Beach in St. George’s – opening up in spring.

The resort developed by Hotelco and designed by OBMI Design is aimed to ‘become the most luxurious development on the island.’

The General Manager of Hotelco Laura Purroy said:

‘The progress made at the St. Regis Bermuda Resort development has been significant and the continued support of the East End Community and Government has proved to be equally significant. We are excited about the opening and reopening of both hotels in April 2021.’

Currently, there are three cities in Bermuda that can boast gambling facilities – three gambling premises in total. The types of gambling available within the Caribbean country are casinos and sports betting parlors.

Out of the three facilities, Hamilton Princess and Beach Club casino is the largest casino and is located in the capital city of Bermuda – Hamilton. The casino features slots, video poker, multi-game machines and 12 table games with other amenities such as restaurants and a golf club available for customers.
