Finland is set to open its doors to commercial gambling operators by 2027. This comes as a result of a draft bill recently presented by Finland’s Ministry of the Interior, signalling a significant shift in the country’s gambling landscape.
The Finnish government initially planned to end the existing monopoly held by the government-owned betting agency, Veikkaus, by the close of 2026. Currently, the National Police Board oversees gambling in Finland. However, with the introduction of the new bill, this will be overhauled.
