Leading venture capital firm hires Moritz Baier-Lentz to head new gaming sector

Gaming sector boosted by leading venture capital firm

With over US$18 billion under management spread across over 500 investments in the global market, venture capital firm Lightspeed will boost its gaming sector.

The company has appointed Moritz Baier-Lentz as head of the consumer team within its gaming sector. Lightspeed announced that the company`s new established gaming sector led by Baier-Lentz will be spread across the company´s offices worldwide. It will invest in game studios, gaming platforms, interactive technologies, extended realities such as VR and AR and WEB3 based games.

Baier-Lentz was named in Forbes finance 30 under 30  in 2016 and previously worked for gaming venture capitalists BITKRAFT Ventures.

In 2003 Baier-Lentz was ranked number-one in the world in Blizzard’s Diablo II. He funded his own education at Stanford Business School from his earnings as a professional gamer. He started his career in investment banking at Goldman Sachs where he lead the firm´s global gaming practice and advised clients such as Microsoft, Google and Meta on global deals. He acted as key advisor on Dell’s US$67 billion purchase of EMC and US$34 billion acquisition of Red Hat by IBM. Under his management the gaming sector at BITKRAFT Ventures became a global leader. At BITKRAFT Ventures, Baier-Lentz was key advisor on US$15 million Series A for Lightforge Games in March 2022. He is also a founding member and author of the World Economic Forum’s Metaverse Initiative.
