Gusttavo Lima receives arrest warrant in money laundering investigation

On the morning of Monday, the 23rd, the Pernambuco Court of Justice (TJPE) ordered the arrest of singer Gusttavo Lima, still in connection with Operation Integration, which investigates an alleged money laundering scheme and also arrested influencer Deolane Bezerra and the CEO of Esportes da Sorte and his wife. The decision was made by Judge Andrea Calado da Cruz of the 12th Criminal Court of Recife.

Operation Integration, launched on September 4th, has already resulted in the arrest of digital influencer Deolane Bezerra, who, along with other suspects, is accused of moving around R$ 3 billion through illicit activities. The judge justified the need for preventive detention, stating that there are no less severe precautionary measures that guarantee public order at this time. The decision came after the Public Prosecutor’s Office requested new investigations, recommending the replacement of the arrests with less severe measures, which were denied.

Since July, Deolane Bezerra had been in charge of the betting company Zeroumbet, with a capital of R$ 30 million. After her arrest, the court blocked R$ 20 million of her assets and R$ 14 million of her company. During the investigation, evidence of money laundering related to transactions involving luxury cars and the CEO of Esportes da Sorte was found.

After her arrest, Deolane released a letter declaring her innocence and mentioning the injustice of her detention. A few hours after her detention, Deolane was granted the right to serve house arrest but it was soon revoked for violating one of the conditions at the moment of leaving the prison.

With the arrest warrant for Gusttavo Lima, Operation Integration continues to develop, raising questions about the connection between public figures and illegal practices in the betting and money laundering scene in Brazil.
