India’s first poker masterclass TV game show

JioCinema, one of the leading OTT viewing platforms in India, has partnered with poker platform Pokerbaazi to release reality TV series ‘Poker Masterclass’. The six-part series is the country’s first poker learning game show.

About the tv show

The series indulges the viewers’ gaming senses with a focus on poker strategies, skill development, and more. It is structured as a game show where players compete over five days in a variety of poker games and activities.

Each episode is packed with lessons, challenges, and the drama of competition to enhance the audience’s understanding of poker while showcasing the thrill of the game.

Poker players and masters

The show will feature four poker maestros leading their teams as they play and engage in the game with the aim to educate its viewers.

Abhishek Goindi leads the Shark Squad. His strategic insights and aggressive gameplay style are central to his team’s success. Kanishka Samant will lead Anti-Tilters, and is known for her calm demeanour and psychological approach to poker.

Vinod Megalmani is the captain of Pocket Rockets, renowned for his technical prowess and detailed understanding of poker mechanics. Shravan Chhabria will be leading the Crushers, he will be leading the team combining experience with an intuitive grasp of the game.

Set in India’s poker capital, Goa, the show will feature 28 players. This group includes the top-ranked players based on performance at Pokerbaazi’s tournaments. Four of the total players were selected via a social media contest.   

Winning pool prize

The series concludes in a 21-day extravaganza with a prize pool of INR 60 crore and awarding of a trophy to the winning team and a special call-out to the most valuable player (MVP). The MVP is recognized for their exceptional performance and contributions throughout the show.

Poker Masterclass has had a significant impact on the Indian poker community. By promoting skill development and connections among players, the series contributes to the growth and popularity of poker in India.
