Kindred reports decline in harmful gambling for Q4

A decline in revenue generated from harmful gambling in Q4 has been reported by Kindred Group.

Towards safer gambling

Between 1 July and 31 December 0.5 percent of active customers in Sweden were contacted in relation to  suspected problematic gambling. Results were analysed by a panel of expert organisations from the gaming sector. It is reported that 76.8 percent of users contacted reduced bad gambling habits.  In addition it was reported that 75.5 percent of gamers cut back on deposit placements. Self exclusion also featured with 1.4 percent of customers opting to self exclude from gambling activity for less than six months. There were also 0.5 percent of gamers who chose  self exclusion for more than six months.

Kindred rolls out a pilot project

Kindred also announced that a pilot project is being established in the UK with a panel made up of experts in the sector. Current members include BetKnowMore, DealMeOut and Epic Risk Management. Former head of responsible gaming and research at Kindred, Maris Catania, is taking the role of advisor for the project.

Feedback from project participants

The panel will serve as a platform for discussions and recommendation to support progress in this area. “We want operators to be ambitious in their safer gambling endeavours and encourage collaboration across the industry to achieve this,” said Daniel Spencer, Director of Safer Gambling at Epic Risk Management. “We are delighted to be able to provide this further consumer insight that ultimately will lead to better player protection.”
