Lottery and Gaming Authority set to amend laws in Lagos state Nigeria

A bill was passed by the House of Assembly in Lagos State which will improve the current law governing State Lottery and Gaming.

Mudashiru ObasaDuring the third reading of the bill, Speaker of the house, Mudashiru Obasaexplained that the proposed new law will be effective in harmonizing all other laws regarding gaming and lottery activities in the state. 

In addition, it is expected that the bill will aid in establishing the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority.

The new amendment was announced on twitter by the New Media Department of the Office of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly stating that:

Lagos Assembly passes a Bill for a Law to establish the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority to consolidate and harmonize all gaming activities and related laws in Lagos State, and also to provide for the regulation and control of all gaming activities into Law.

The Lagos State Lotteries Board (LSLB) was founded in 2004 under the Lagos State Lotteries Law Cap L89 2004 Laws of Lagos State, now known as the Lagos State Lotteries (Amendment) Law. The regulatory body is responsible for including but not limited to regulating lotteries, scratch card and interactive games, gaming machines operators, and sports betting.
