SiGMA expands affiliate marketing services to Iowa

SiGMA has expanded its portfolio of states to include Iowa for its affiliate marketing services. This strategic move opens up new opportunities for SiGMA Play – its B2C affiliate portal –  to operate within the Iowa iGaming market, further strengthening the company’s presence in the United States.

Iowa is the 10th state to be announced this year, having acquired several licences throughout the US, including in the states of New Jersey, Michigan, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. It can also provide affiliate marketing services to Illinois, Kansas, Tennessee, and New York.

Iowa has emerged as a noteworthy player in the burgeoning iGaming industry in the United States. The state’s forward-thinking approach to online gambling and sports betting has paved the way for a thriving iGaming sector. With a regulatory framework in place that allows for both mobile and retail sports betting, as well as a variety of casino games, Iowa has become a prime destination for iGaming enthusiasts.

In the words of SiGMA Play’s Managing Director, Mex Emini, “We’re excited to announce that we’ve expanded our horizons and can now offer affiliate marketing services in Iowa. We look forward to forging new partnerships as we enter markets in North America and beyond.”

Sportsbook wagers up in 2023, despite dip in revenue

In September, Iowa’s monthly sports betting handle surged to $245.8 million, marking a robust 22.8% year-on-year increase from the $200.2 million wagered in the same month in 2022. This figure also represented a substantial 74.1% growth from August 2023, which saw a handle of $141.2 million. Of this total, $222.3 million was bet online, while $23.4 million was placed at physical retail sportsbooks throughout the state.

Despite the impressive betting volume, the revenue for the Hawkeye State showed a slight decline. Sports wagering net receipts for the month amounted to $24.1 million, which was 5.1% lower than the $25.4 million generated in September of the previous year. However, it did represent a substantial 78.5% increase from the $13.5 million reported in August 2023. Online sports betting accounted for $20.9 million of the total revenue in September, while retail wagering contributed $3.1 million to the overall figure.
