Virtual Grand National profits to be donated to NHS
Major operators agreed to donate profits
Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) members including Bet365, William Hill, Sky Bet, GVC, BetFred, BetVictor and Flutter Entertainment have announced that any profits from this Saturday’s virtual Grand National event will be donated to the UK’s National Health Services or NHS.
NHS Charities Together, an umbrella organization, represents around 140 approved NHS charities with collective daily contribution of £1 million to support the NHS.
The BGC, together with NHS Charities Together, agreed to limit the stakes on the virtual horse racing to £10 per horse per customer. A pool on the race will also run and profits shall be donated to charity as well.
This year’s schedule of the actual Grand National is set on 04 April, but last month, it was announced that the event would be cancelled due to the Corona Virus pandemic. The virtual Grand National will instead take the date for its run.

“However the virtual Grand National will be the closest we can get to creating one of those moments when we can all come together in celebration, not just for the world’s greatest sporting events, but for the NHS heroes working on the front line to keep us all safe.”

In partnership with Carm Productions and Inspired Entertainment, ITV will be broadcasting the pre-recorded event. Although the outcome will be known to a select number of people, they will be under a strict confidential agreement.
The British Horseracing Authority announced last month that all races in Great Britain will be suspended until the end of April. Irish Grand National is also facing cancellation or postponement for their 13 April Run.
