Casinos in Liverpool close due to new Covid-19 restrictions

UK government closes casinos in Liverpool and betting shops in Merseyside as part of further measures to stop the spreading of the pandemic

Yesterday the UK government closed casinos and betting shops in Liverpool due to the rising numbers of the Covid-positive individuals in the population.

44720960_xlPrime Minister Boris Johnson announced a three-tier system of restriction applying to each region across the country according to the risk of transmission. Tier one being the regions with the lowest rate, facing basic national rules having for instance the rule of six-individual-groups and closing at 10pm, whilst tier three being the one with the highest level of transmissions and therefore the highest level of restrictions.

These restrictions include the closing of casinos and betting shops, gyms, leisure centres, pubs and restaurants. This was mostly seen as a reaction to the 14,000 confirmed cases on Monday 12th of October which naturally alarmed the government.

These latest restrictions will naturally come as a major blow, once again, to casinos and to the retail industry in the country.
