Centurion FC, SiGMA, and the fight beyond the cage

On the evening of October 12th, an epic showdown took place on the iconic shores of Copacabana Beach. The Centurion Fight Championship 23 (CFC 23), which was supported by SiGMA, kicked off with its electrifying 4-man tournament. As the fight unfolded, Brazil’s top MMA fighters faced off in a test of endurance, skill, and heart.

The question of “Who is the king of Brazil?” has been answered, but perhaps the more important question is: how many future kings and queens will rise thanks to this life-changing initiative? Held on Children’s Day, the event offered free attendance, with just one caveat – the donation of a children’s toy. Collected items were donated to the Associacao Esportiva de Santa Marta the following day – reaching hundreds of children residing in Santa Marta.

Beyond the tournament, Centurion FC and SiGMA Foundation have also joined forces to leverage this high-profile platform for a cause that transcends sport: transforming lives in the favelas of Sao Paulo through education and professional training.

SiGMA Foundation teams up with Centurion FC

While the battle for Brazil’s MMA crown was sure to capture global attention, it’s the fight beyond the cage that is perhaps even more compelling. SiGMA Foundation, in partnership with Centurion, has announced an ambitious project aimed at making a lasting impact on underprivileged communities within Sao Paulo. Together, they are creating a training center – the Faculdade da Luta –  in the heart of Sao Paulo´s favelas, where young people will have access to world-class MMA training, alongside vital English classes and career development programs.

The goal of this initiative is simple yet profound: to give these youths an opportunity to forge professional careers in MMA and beyond, providing them with tools for success that could steer them away from the dangerous paths that often plague disadvantaged areas. By focusing on education alongside physical training, the program is designed to be holistic in its approach, helping young participants become well-rounded individuals capable of thriving both in and out of the ring.

This project aims to solidify the bridge between the entertainment of MMA and the humanitarian goals driving the partnership between SiGMA and Centurion.

Earlier this year, the SiGMA Foundation, in collaboration with Centurion, delivered donations to the Lar Batista de Crianças, a Brazilian non-profit organization dedicated to providing care, support, and opportunities for children in vulnerable situations.

SiGMA Americas 2025

Centurion FC MMA fights are back at SiGMA next year, bringing a highly anticipated fight night to the gaming and tech event, which is being held for the third time in Sao Paulo, Brazil, next April. In lieu of an entrance fee attendees will be asked to make a donation that will go directly to the local community being served by the new training center.
