DigiPlus records €67.1 million net income in 2023, fuelled by bingo games

Philippine gaming giant DigiPlus Interactive Corp (DigiPlus) has recorded Php 4.1 billion (€67.1 million) in net income in 2023, signifying an extraordinary 596 percent surge from the preceding year.

This remarkable feat contrasts starkly with the company’s modest net income of PHP 686.8 million (€11.2 million) in 2022 and the challenging net loss of PHP 894 million (€14.6 million) endured during the pandemic-ridden year of 2021.

Bingo, e-games main contributor

The company has attributed over 90 percent of its total revenue to its diverse gaming portfolio, which includes traditional onsite bingo operations, BingoPlus platform, and various e-games.

The surge in revenue during 2023 was primarily fuelled by the widespread engagement of millions of Filipinos in bingo, both in physical parlours and through online channels.

DigiPlus revealed that its earnings skyrocketed by 306 percent to reach Php 27.3 billion in 2023, largely propelled by heightened user traffic on its flagship bingo platform, BingoPlus, and the sportsbook ArenaPlus.

This surge was further augmented by the introduction of new digital offerings, marking a significant expansion in the company’s gaming repertoire.

The pioneering efforts of DigiPlus’ subsidiary, AB Leisure Exponent Incorporated, in introducing bingo gaming to the Philippines have been instrumental in the company’s success.

License and userbase

Launched in January 2022, BingoPlus, also known as bingoplus.com, has amassed an impressive user base of 20 million registered users within four years of its inception.

The platform holds an exclusive license from the state-owned Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

Asserting its dominance in the digital bingo market, DigiPlus claims a commanding 31 percent share.

Inclusion in the FTSE Global Equity Index

In March, the FTSE Global Equity Index Series included DigiPlus Interactive Corp. in its Micro Cap Category.

In a statement, DigiPlus said that this move highlights the company’s growing significance in the digital technology sector.
