Highlights of France Poker Series Aix-les-Bain event day 1b

France Poker Series (FPS) Aix-les-Bain main event, hosted by PokerStars, has been creating waves in the poker community with its high-stakes action and gripping gameplay. As expected, Day 1b of the event did not disappoint, drawing in 127 additional entrants and bringing the total number of participants to 262 across the two starting flights.

Breakdown of day 1b action

Day 1b was a marathon day of poker, stretching across 13 long hours filled with tension, big hands, and crucial eliminations. By the end of the day, 26 players remained in the running, with some familiar faces and surprising new names emerging as contenders. The spotlight on day 1b belonged to Karim Kaladjou, who bagged a whopping 366,000 chips, positioning himself as the overall chip leader across both starting flights. Trailing just behind Kaladjou was Zine-Din Benrebai, who finished the day with an impressive 292,000 chips. Benrebai demonstrated strong skills throughout the day, consistently putting pressure on his opponents and making it clear that he’s in the tournament to win.

One of the more interesting narratives from Day 1b was the performance of Swiss poker professional Karo Nuri. Nuri started the day with fire, winning big hands early on, including a preflop cooler and a runner-runner flush that had the table buzzing. However, his momentum didn’t last, and unfortunately, Nuri’s promising start fizzled out, leading to his elimination halfway through the day.

PokerStars ambassador Simon Wiciak joined Day 1b later in the day, but despite his best efforts, it was a tough grind. Wiciak struggled to build momentum and hovered around his starting stack for much of the day.

One of the more inspiring stories from Day 1b was Cassandra Yong, who emerged as the only female player to secure a place in Day 2 so far. A crucial moment for her came when she shoved with pocket queens and managed to double up against a loose call from an opponent holding seven-five suited. Yong’s steady play throughout the day ensured her survival, and she’ll be a player to watch as the tournament progresses.

The brutality of poker spared no one on Day 1b, with several notable names failing to survive the day. Among them were Michel Molenaar, Ricardo Graells, Guillermo Gordo, and Fabian Rolli.

Upcoming day preview

As the FPS Aix-les-Bain main event continues, attention now shifts to the remaining two starting flights. Day 1c is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 4, and will follow the same structure as the first two starting flights. Players will once again compete in 45-minute levels as they battle to stay in the tournament.

Later in the evening, Day 1d will kick off at 8 p.m., but this flight will feature accelerated 25-minute levels, making for a faster-paced, more aggressive game. Players who bust during this flight, or in any previous flight, will have the option to re-enter. Additionally, re-entry will be allowed at the start of Day 2, before late registration officially closes.
