INTRALOT extends contract with Lotterywest in Western Australia

INTRALOT S.A., a global leader in lottery and gaming solutions, has announced that its subsidiary, INTRALOT Australia, has secured a two-year contract extension with Lotterywest, Western Australia’s state-run lottery. This agreement extends INTRALOT’s role in providing lottery operating systems and services to Lotterywest beyond 2026, with an option for a further one-year extension.

Lotterywest, the only government-owned and operated lottery in Australia, has been a valued partner of INTRALOT for 17 years, as was stated in a press release. Over this period, INTRALOT has supported Lotterywest’s mission: the company explained that this partnership will “elevate player experience and help Lotterywest fulfill its mission of supporting good causes within the Western Australian community”.

Lotterywest has been supporting the Western Australian community for over 90 years, funding a wide range of initiatives. As part of its broader mission, Lotterywest also oversees Healthway, the state government agency dedicated to promoting health through sports, arts, and community activities.
Through Lotterywest, all available profits are returned to the community through grants to improve the quality of life and wellbeing in the region, explained the companies.

INTRALOT’s expansion

The extension reinforces INTRALOT’s expansion across the globe. The company has recently achieved similar contract renewals with the Nederlandse Loterij Organisatie (NLO) in the Netherlands and Premier Lotteries Ireland (PLI), ensuring its continued presence in these key markets until 2027.

Australia’s gaming debates

This contract extension comes at a time when gambling regulation is a hot topic in Australia, with growing public support for a ban on gambling advertisements. Advocates, led by the Alliance for Gambling Reform (AGR), are pushing for a blanket ban on such ads. With Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s government still undecided on the matter, public campaigns have ramped up pressure. Recent surveys indicate that the majority of Australians support moderate restrictions on gambling advertising, while media companies and some sports betting operators have already started reducing their ad volumes in response to public sentiment. The final decision could have significant implications for the gaming industry, including lotteries, as Australia navigates its path toward responsible gambling practices.
