Raymond Yap to exit Galaxy Entertainment Group

Raymond Yap, Galaxy Entertainment Group‘s long-time Senior Director of Integrated Resort Services, will step down from his role on October 9, 2024. Despite his departure, Yap will remain with the company as a consultant.

According to reports, Yap’s responsibilities will be taken over by Elmen Lee, currently the Vice President of International Premium Market Development. Lee has been with Galaxy Entertainment since 2008 and will now lead the integrated resort services department.

Executive team shake-up

Yap’s exit is part of broader changes at Galaxy Entertainment Group’s executive level. Recent reports suggest that other key figures, such as Robert Reichard, Executive Vice President of Integrated Resort Services, and Terruce Wang, Senior Vice President of Customer Development, are also preparing to leave the company. These departures have fueled speculation about a possible restructuring of the company’s leadership team.

Yap’s legacy at Galaxy Entertainment

Yap joined Galaxy Entertainment in 2007 and played a crucial role in the pre-opening of the group’s flagship property, Galaxy Macau. During his tenure, he oversaw significant growth and developments, including Galaxy Entertainment’s operations at StarWorld Hotel on the Macau peninsula. Yap’s departure comes at a time when the company is seeing positive results, having recently reported its strongest quarterly performance since the pandemic, with second-quarter gross gaming revenue reaching HKD10.3 billion (€1.2billion), a 35 percent increase year-on-year. Galaxy Entertainment Chairman Dr. Lui Che Woo said this recent success is all thanks to the robust growth across all segments.

Organisational restructuring

Several media reports also said that in addition to Yap’s departure, Galaxy Entertainment is planning an organisational overhaul. The integrated resort services and business development departments will merge under the leadership of Elmen Lee. These changes, effective from October 9, are part of the company’s efforts to streamline operations and strengthen its position in the market.
