Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd will open the IR City of Dreams Mediterranean in Cyprus in summer 2022

Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd officially announced their City of Dreams Mediterranean Integrated Resort (IR) will launch in Cyprus during the summer of 2022.

The IR will be located in Limassol, and is set to become the largest IR in Europe. The project was originally meant to launch towards the end of this year, yet this was subject to delays as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Additionally, the IR will be a 16-story infrastructure partnered with a 500-room five-star hotel. There will also be an array of  food and retail venues, as well as meeting, conference and exhibition spaces.

According to the Gambling Insider, Grant Johnson, property GM of City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos, stated in a released statement:

We aim to establish a unique destination, offering a premium entertainment experience to our guests while creating real value for the country’s economy and society. City of Dreams Mediterranean is set to enrich Cyprus’ tourism landscape, attracting an additional 300,000 visitors per year to the island.

The project aims to provide a much needed boost in tourism following world-wide travel restrictions in bid to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and create thousands of jobs.
