No connection with super8r.com: MGA

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has issued a public statement declaring that it has no connection with super8r.com. The statement adds that “any reference to the MGA and/or gaming licence/s said to be issued by the Maltese Authority, as stated by super8r.com is false and misleading.”

A verification on the 9th of October revealed that the website displayed the logo of the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). In addition, the page also includes 3 other regulator logos, namely the UK Gambling Commission, the British Virgin Islands (BVI) Certification and an outdated Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) logo.

The operator’s website also claims that “SUPER8 has a legal license issued by the European MGA Malta, UK GC Supervisory Commission (Gambling Commission) and the Government of the Philippines (PAGCOR). Registered in the British Virgin Islands, it is a legitimate company recognized by an international industry association.”

Worrying Trend

A worrying trend within the online gaming industry is the emergence of gaming operators that falsely assert they hold licenses from regulatory authorities. These operators mislead potential players into believing they are operating within a legitimate and regulated framework, when in fact, they may be engaging in illegal or unethical activities. These false claims undermine the trust players have in the industry and jeopardize the overall integrity of online gaming.

Gaming operators falsely claiming to possess licenses represent a growing concern within the online gaming industry. To protect players and maintain the integrity of the sector, stricter regulations, public awareness campaigns, and stronger penalties are necessary. Collaboration between regulators, industry players, and governments is essential to combat this issue effectively and ensure a safe and transparent gaming environment for all.
