Patrick Bueno claims victory in €2,000 Eight-Game Mix at WSOPE

In an exciting display of skill and strategy, French poker pro Patrick Bueno claimed victory in the €2,000 Eight-Game Mix event at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) held in Berlin. More than 23 years later, Bueno has secured his first WSOPE gold bracelet. With this victory, Bueno has nearly $1.1 million in career tournament earnings. Additionally, he earned 216 Player of the Year points from Card Player, marking his first points of 2024.

The Eight-Game Mix format, which includes Omaha Hi-Lo, Razz, Texas Hold’em, and Seven Card Stud, proved to be one of the best tests of skill and flexibility. Bueno showcased his diligent performance throughout the tournament, navigating through challenging rounds and outsmarting his opponents with a blend of strategic play and keen instincts.

This competition was held from October 2-3, with the top 14 finishers winning the money. Among those that ran deep were recent WSOP Europe €5,000 pot-limit Omaha bracelet winner Dennis Weiss (14th), two-0time bracelet winner Ilija Savevski (11th), 2023 North American Poker Tour Las Vegas  main event winner Sami Bechahed (4th), and three-time bracelet winner Anson Tsang (3rd).

At the final table, Bueno faced formidable challengers, including renowned German player Johannes Becker and high-stakes American pro Chris Bjorin. Despite the stiff competition, Bueno maintained composure, leveraging his deep understanding of each game type to build an important chip lead.

“I’m thrilled to win this bracelet,” Bueno said after his victory. “The Eight-Game Mix is one of my favourite formats because it challenges you to be good at everything. I’m grateful for the support from my friends and family.”

Bueno’s race to the final table included a series of fierce battles, having a critical phase where he overcame a considerable chip deficit. His potential and ability to read opponents mind and quickly adapt his strategies in quick time played helped him significantly to make a comeback.

Rising Star in the poker scene

Bueno’s win not only adds an esteemed title to the list of his achievements but also glorifies his name as one of Europe’s rising stars in the poker world. His extraordinary performance will become an inspiration for new generation of players.

As the WSOPE continues, poker spectators and participants will be eager to see how Bueno builds on this triumph in future events. With his skill and knowledge, he is poised for even greater success in the competitive landscape of professional poker.
