Playtech’s Goblin’s Cave is the most popular slot of 2020

Leading online casino comparison site JohnSlots, a Catena Media brand, has revealed the most popular slots in 2020 so far and surprisingly perhaps, it is Playtech’s Goblin’s Cave which is the obvious favourite

To determine the most sought-after titles of the year, JohnSlots has conducted its own research into which game reviews have been searched for the most on its site so far this year. Goblin’s Cave, a high RTP (return to player) slot, is miles ahead, with NetEnt’s timeless classic, Starburst, coming in second place.

Microgaming slots have also proved particularly popular among JohnSlots users, with five of their titles – Private Eye, Mega Moolah, Immortal Romance, 9 Pots of Gold and Thunderstruck 2 – appearing in the list of 2020’s ten hottest slots.

The analysis then goes on to look at visits vs search volume, which shows the comparison between how many players have been searching for a slot and how many of those players then read about that slot on JohnSlots.

In addition, JohnSlots offers some insights into the top slot providers of the year as well as the top slots by country in some key markets. Microgaming’s 9 Pots Of Gold takes the top spot in the UK, with Legacy of Dead (Play’n GO) leading the way in Germany. Pragmatic Play’s new slot The Dog House Megaways is number one in Sweden.

James Byrne, Senior Content Editor at JohnSlots, said: “There are some really interesting results to take away from this data. While we might have expected universally popular titles like Book of Dead or Starburst to be way out in front, players are clearly interested in trying new and even lesser known games in 2020.

“This is particularly the case when looking at the results in individual countries like the UK, Germany and Sweden. Having said that, when looking at the data as a whole, there is a clear trend for players engaging with high RTP slots, as well as some of the timeless classics.”
