Successful summit: SiGMA Foundation trekkers reach Toubkal peak

A group of 22 dedicated volunteers from the SiGMA Foundation successfully reached the summit of Mount Toubkal on Sunday, May 14th.

Conquering new heights: Mount Toubkal

The SiGMA Foundation’s trek to Toubkal aimed not only to reach the top but also to bring about spiritual fulfilment and growth for all participants while raising funds for a worthy cause. The funds raised by the trekkers will support the Women Empowerment Project in Bonga, Ethiopia, which seeks to create positive change in the lives of women living in poverty.

The Women Empowerment Project, a collaboration between the SiGMA Foundation and the Catholic Vicariate of Jimma Bonga, aims to establish a skill development centre that offers training in various fields. This initiative will empower women by providing them with the necessary skills to secure gainful employment and financial independence, ultimately breaking the cycle of poverty.

Reaching the peak of Toubkal on the same day that Malta celebrates Mother’s Day holds special significance, as the funds raised through this endeavour will directly benefit women, many of whom are mothers or aspire to be mothers, enabling them to provide for their children and families.

The SiGMA Foundation remains committed to its mission of active philanthropy, and the successful summit of Toubkal is another testament to their dedication and drive. By reaching new heights, both literally and metaphorically, they are making a tangible impact on the lives of those in need – in this particular instance, impoverished and underserved women in Jimma Bonga, Ethiopia.

To support the Women Empowerment Project and contribute to this or future meaningful initiatives, interested individuals are encouraged to join the ongoing fundraising efforts led by the SiGMA Foundation and its partners.
