Asia’s largest junket operator, Suncity Group Holdings Limited, launches new VIP gaming clubs despite Macau’s decline in licenced junket operators

Suncity Group Holdings Limited, the largest junket operator in Asia, with a presence in all major Integrated Resorts and Casinos all over the Asia Pacific, has announced it will launch new VIP gaming clubs at two Cotai casino resorts: The Londoner Macao and Grand Lisboa Palace.

Suncity Group confirmed to GGRAsia that the brand plans to control operating costs by adjusting the workforce to handle the upcoming openings of the new clubs.

One of the VIP gaming clubs will be opened at The Londoner Macao (pictured), the newly revamped and rebranded Sands Cotai Central, which has a British theme and a facade that replicates the Palace of Westminster.

The other club will be launched at the Grand Lisboa Palace, a property operated by SJM Holdings Ltd, which SJM aims to open in the first half of 2021.

Francis Lui Yiu Tung, deputy chairman of the Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group, said on Thursday, that the VIP gaming sector in Macau will likely face a number of challenges including a series of legal changes due to mainland China authorities.

At a time when SunCity Group is preparing to offer more VIP operations, Macau is seeing a decline in the number of licenced junket operators in the region.

This year, the number was down to 85, with only 77 gaming rooms hosted and just over 1,566 gaming tables, according to information revealed by the Secretary for Economy and Finance in in late January to legislators.
