UK Gambling Commission launches new service

In its efforts towards enhancing transparency and combating illicit activities in the gambling industry, the Gambling Commission (GC) has unveiled an online reporting service, known as “Tell us something in confidence.” The platform is designed to facilitate the anonymous reporting of criminal and suspicious activities related to the gambling sector.

Tell us something in confidence

The new service empowers individuals to report a variety of activities, including but not limited to match-fixing, sports betting integrity concerns, underage gambling, money laundering suspicions, and instances of suspicious or unlicensed gambling. By providing a secure and confidential channel, the GC aims to encourage the public to contribute valuable information without fear of reprisal.

This new service offers users a one-stop solution, enabling them to anonymously upload supporting materials such as photographs and documents directly related to their report. Additionally, users have the option to submit further information through email or traditional mail. For those willing to be contacted regarding the information they provide, there is an option to share contact details.

The “Tell us something in confidence” service accepts information pertaining to criminal activities under the Gambling Act 2005, as well as any other details that individuals believe may be beneficial from a regulatory perspective. It is explicitly intended for reporting criminal and suspicious activities, and users are reminded to utilize the specific complaints process outlined on the GC’s “How to complain” webpage for grievances against gambling businesses.

Importantly, the Commission reassures the public that its confidential telephone service for reporting criminal or suspicious activities will continue to operate as usual, offering an alternative avenue for those who prefer traditional reporting methods.

The launch of this new online reporting service represents a significant step forward in the GC’s ongoing efforts to maintain the integrity of the gambling industry and ensure a fair and secure environment for all stakeholders. The Commission encourages individuals with relevant information to use the Tell us something in confidence service as a powerful tool in the collective fight against unlawful practices in the gambling sector.
