Entain eyes Jette Nygaard-Andersen as first female CEO of a UK gaming enterprise

Sources report that Entain Plc are gearing up to inaugurate Jette Nygaard-Anderson as the first female CEO to run a UK listed gambling group

CEO Shay Segev'sFollowing CEO Shay Segev’s sudden departure last week, Enatin Plc are reported to be in ‘advanced discussions’ to appoint Jette Nygaard-Andersen as their new chief executive officer. If executed, Jette Nygaard-Andersen will become the first female CEO for any British-listed gambling group. The monumental move comes during a particularly delicate time as Entain, formerly GVC Holdings, is in the middle of a £8M takeover battle with MGM Resorts.

The news has produced a buzz throughout the industry, the Financial Times commenting ‘Jette Nygaard-Andersen will take over at a pivotal time for the gambling sector’.

The CEO contender is a veteran in the media and entertainment industry, holding more than 20 years’ experience under her belt. Jette Nygaard-Andersen previously served as the EMEA Chief Executive of Swedish media conglomerate Modern Times Group for roughly 16 years. Since December 2019, the Danish national also serves as an Entain non-executive director.

Furthermore, skepticism surrounding Segev’s departure has risen given the odd timing, and especially given his notice period is 6 months. Segev is currently pursuing a role with higher financial rewards at DAZN sports streaming site.

Entain’s chairman commented on the CEO’s sudden departure stating:

EntainWe are sorry that Shay has decided to leave us but recognise that we cannot match the rewards that he has been promised.

Nonetheless, he also assured that the CEO’s departure won’t affect the £8M takeover bid, which he claims “significantly undervalues the company and its prospects’.
