Betspert raises $6M in Series A funding round

Sports betting startup Betsperts secured a $6 million investment following a Series A fundraising round led by HBSE Ventures and Verance Capital.

Since its inception in 2019, Betsperts has continuously made strides to become a major player in the burgeoning sports betting scene. Originally the app was to provide bettors with a way to connect with experts to gain insight before placing their wagers. The startup has since transitioned into the fantasy football industry, acquiring analyst Matthew Berry’s fantasy sports app Fantasy Life as well as 4for4.com, a content, data and rankings tool for fantasy football.

This Series A funding will aid Chicago based Betsperts mission to become the sports gambling world’s central hub for content, social media, advice and users analytics. With CEO Robin Reed commenting:

“This capital gives us the opportunity to heavily invest in growing the userbase with investments into marketing technology, more content, and continues to allow us to look at strategic acquisition opportunities.”

Betsperts boasts one of the largest sports betting audiences in the country and with active bills set to legalize betting in several additional states, it looks like there is no end in sight. Additionally, the group is anticipated to achieve a major milestone once the 2021 NFL season begins, surpassing one million lifetime downloads. Rooney believes the opportunity for the company is “massive.”

“We’re continuing to build the full vision of being the largest social platform for sports gambling and fantasy sports,” he said.

Andy Roos, Partner at HBSE Ventures, said: “HBSE Ventures is excited to support Betsperts in their next phase of growth, as they aim to become the social network for sports betting and fantasy sports.

“Sports bettors and fantasy players have no shortage of outlets, but we believe there is a strong need for a solution that cuts through the noise and provides access to the best content, whether user-generated or from recognized experts. Betsperts will leverage this content to attract consumers across its complementary platforms and take advantage of the explosive growth the sector is experiencing.”

The next SiGMA iGathering networking event will be held in Riga. The dinner, which is planned for the 26th of August, at 19:00, is set to take place at the stunning Royal Casino. The evening will also welcome guests from neighbouring countries Estonia and Lithuania, tapping into a wide network of the region’s top industry thinkers.
