Tackle digital exclusion: recycle unused tech

You too can give a helping hand by aiding vulnerable children to carry on with their studies at home

The SiGMA Foundation and friends have come together for another campaign with a purpose. This time round, the team is calling out for the public to lend a big hand by relocating unwanted tech devices to needy kids and so allowing them to engage in online education.

Keith Marshall

SiGMA Foundation CPO Keith Marshall had these words to say:

‘This situation hanging over our heads was never going to be a smooth ride, now especially with online schooling. Coming together as one with the general public’s generosity will appease the predicament for some parents. The wider our reach, the greater will be our impact at family level. The main purpose in this campaign is to provide laptops to those children who are not as fortunate as the rest of us. During these tough times in a worldwide pandemic, we must all pull on the same rope and leave no one behind or at a disadvantage.

The SiGMA Foundation is calling all our iGaming friends and friends of friends to join in this journey in providing a better learning experience for everyone. No child deserves to stay without a proper education and a fair chance at that.laptp donation2

Thanks go to Norwex Malta Director, Joe Vella, has graciously donated 3 laptops for our students and leaders of tomorrow.

‘All hands on deck, we can make this work. We are asking for anyone out there having unwanted laptops or tablets to step forward and donate them to our cause, HERE. Their unwanted item could be someone else’s treasure, so let’s make it happen,’ concludes Keith Marshall.

‘Till the time of writing, we managed to shift around 30 unwanted machines in cupboards to grateful hands. The moral to the story is that the template works, it can easily be achieved. If three people can achieve this in the space of a couple of weeks, just imagine what can be achieved with so many people who can be on board and sharing this project out there? Let us be collective, ladies and gentlemen, many kids depending on online schooling would appreciate your empathy and generosity so much. Let’s keep on making this happen. Let’s go from strength to strength. This is the collective value of humanity’ .

Ivan Castillo, Mellieha Local Councillor.
