Veikkaus scores new cooperation deal with NHL

The National Hockey League (NHL) has named Finnish lottery monopoly Veikkaus as its official league partner through a recent cooperation agreement. The deal, covering the 2024-2026 seasons, will feature a wide range of NHL content be available on Veikkaus’ channels. It will include games played in the United States and Canada.

The company said in a statement that VeikkausTV will broadcast more than 700 NHL games live in connection with the game markets through a separate agreement. “NHL games are shown on VeikkausTV during both the regular season and playoffs.”

The time of the announcement comes at a time when the upcoming Tampere Global Series is about to be released, where Finnish NHL stars will compete before their home crowd.

Veikkaus Head of Communications Tuomo Torkkola said, “The NHL is the second most played league in Veikkaus Sportsbook after the Finnish League in terms of the number of customers. With the desired NHL partnership, we will be able to bring more official content from the world’s highest-level ice hockey league to our channels in the future.

“There is a wide demand for our NHL content, and it is great that we can offer it to our customers and Finns interested in the series also during the 2024 through 2026 seasons.”

NHL Director, Business Development Joseph Stravato said, “We are excited to continue our cooperation with Veikkaus. We are committed to producing content for Finnish ice hockey fans together.

“It’s great to be able to publish the collaboration before the Tampere Global Series (1-2 November) matches, thanks to which some of the biggest Finnish NHL stars get to play for their home crowd.”

Veikkaus users will be able to access VeikkausTV’s live streams for free, requiring either a positive account balance or an active bet on the viewed event.

Last year, Veikkaus has scored a partnership with NHL to cover the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, with the Finnish lottery monopoly becoming the league’s official betting partner in Finland.
