Popular Types of Blackjack
Blackjack is among the popular online casino games, and it’s widely played using decks of 52 cards. Its origin comes from a family of casino banking games known as 21, and the European Vingt-et-Un and the British card game Pontoon are its versions. With the expansion of the gambling world, additional types of Blackjack have appeared on the market. Geographical Blackjack Types Let’s go over a few versions of Blackjack. Atlantic City Blackjack Blackjack in Atlantic City has a few unique features you won’t find at other casinos. Namely, the dealer will check for Blackjack when an ace or a ten is visible. There are three ways to divide your hand when given two cards of equal value. After splitting aces, players are only given one more card for each ace and can only split aces once. The option of doubling down is available to players at any point in the game, even after a split. The dealer will stand on any hand valued at 17, even if it’s a soft 17. Finally, players can choose a late surrender when the dealer shows an ace or a 10-value card. Even if insurance is readily accessible, taking it’s still a bad idea. Vegas Strip In addition to being popular on the Las Vegas Strip, this Blackjack variant is available in almost every online casino. Although the game’s rules are virtually identical to conventional Blackjack, there are some minor differences to be aware of, such as the number of decks and whether or not the dealer hits or stands on soft 17. Usually, Vegas Strip Blackjack is playable with four or eight decks, and the dealer stands on soft 17. With a starting hand that contains 10-value or ace cards, the dealer is required to reveal the hidden card. Even after splitting a pair, players can double down. Splitting 10-value cards, even different ones, is available. In addition, it’s against the rules to re-split aces and surrender. European Blackjack The main difference between European Blackjack and other types of Blackjack is how the cards are dealt. In a traditional Blackjack game, each player, including the dealer, receives two cards at the beginning of the hand. One card is dealt face up, while the others are dealt face down. Meanwhile, in European Blackjack, each player begins with just one card exposed to them, and they don’t get their second card until after all other players finish making their hands. It’s more difficult for players to double or split their hands, and players are at a disadvantage since there are additional limitations to doubling and splitting. Players can only double their bet if they have a total of 9, 10, or 11. Regarding splitting, players can double their bets but can’t split them again. In European 21, the odds of winning are somewhat lower than in the standard version of Blackjack, although the difference isn’t significant. Multi-Hand Blackjack Multi-Hand Blackjack’s main rules are the same as those for the conventional Blackjack types, which benefits players because they don’t need to learn additional rules. However, in this version, participants can play many hands, make various wagers, and have five hands instead of one. In most casinos, this variant of Blackjack prohibits surrendering but enables insurance against the dealer’s ace. The rules vary widely depending on the land-based casino or online versions. For example, some dealers hit soft 17s while others must stand. In addition, the multi-hand Blackjack version with European rules doesn’t use hole cards. Lastly, some Multiple-Hand variants allow doubling on every two-card hand, while others limit it to 9 through 11. Generally, Multi-Hand variation speeds up play and boost betting. Double Exposure Blackjack In this type of Blackjack, the dealer is dealt two cards face-up. Players lose all their wagers, except Blackjack hand, when they push to keep the house advantage at 3-2. The payout for a natural Blackjack is even money. Because dealers’ cards are visible, players can’t purchase insurance or surrender. The game, for the most part, doesn’t allow doubling following splits, re-splitting, and side bets. When the dealer has a 13 through a 16, two 10-value cards are split, and if the dealer has a 20, a hard 19 must be struck. Double Exposure Blackjack is played with at least 6 decks, but most often with 8. Progressive Blackjack One of the most popular types of Blackjack is Progressive Blackjack. It’s not that different from the classic game, but there are a few things to remember before you start. A player and a dealer face off in Progressive Blackjack, just as they do in conventional types. The new $1 stake spot is a big addition, and that’s for a special jackpot bet that must be wagered before the cards are dealt. Each player can play up to five hands at a time, and split hands are considered one hand. To proceed, the dealer must hit on 16 or less and stand on 17 or above. However, Progressive blackjack has some rules distinction from the standard Blackjack type. A player who chooses to split a pair of aces gets only one additional card, and the hand automatically stands. If a second card dealt to a player is a 10-valued card, the hand is considered to have a value of 21, not Blackjack. In most cases, re-splitting isn’t an option. Only when players have a hand total of 9, 10, or 11 will they be allowed to double. After the split, players can’t go back and double the bet. Single and Double Deck Blackjack Most rules for Single-Deck Blackjack are the same as those for games with more than one deck: A hand can be split up to three times. Aces can be split, and each ace gets one card, but they can’t be split again. The hand with a split ace and a 10-value card has a value of 21, not Blackjack. The dealer hits on a soft 17. The payout for blackjack is 3-2. The payout for a winning insurance bet is 2-1. When playing this Blackjack variant, players must keep in mind that each card has a big effect on how the rest of the hand plays out. For a game with only one deck, the rules for doubling down and surrendering are different, and players should take advantage of them. For instance, they can be more aggressive by splitting a pair of 3’s if the dealer shows a 2 or 3 instead of just 4 through 6. Likewise, it’s advised to surrender when you get a pair of 7s and the dealer has a ten. The house edge on insurance in Single-Deck Blackjack games is 5.9%, so you should never take insurance or even money. Similar to a Single Deck, a Double-Deck Blackjack starts each round with players receiving two cards face down, while the dealer receives one card face up. The dealer will check for Blackjack if they have an ace or a 10 on the table. If players hit Blackjack, they’ll be given insurance and even money. You must have a 9, 10, or 11 to double in Double-Deck Blackjack. Players can place an extra stake on the split hand, and no additional splits are allowed. When you get a Blackjack, you’re paid 3-2. Dealer stands on both hard and soft 17. Players can’t double following a split, but they can on Blackjack. Blackjack Switch Blackjack got a new and original spin in recent years thanks to this innovation. In blackjack switch, you take part in not just one but two separate hands, and you can move cards from one hand to the other to strengthen one or both hands, which creates a significant advantage. In order to make up for the above-mentioned things, the majority of the other rules are biased in favor of the dealer. For example, if the dealer has a 22, it doesn’t result in a bust; instead, it’s a push against any player’s hand that isn’t a bust or 21. Super Fun 21 Super Fun 21 is a Blackjack version that’s a lot of fun to play. Aces count as either a one or an 11, and the dealer gets two cards, where one is visible. It varies from standard Blackjack variants in that the player wins if his hand has at least six cards totaling 20, even if the dealer has a total of 21. You can split your hand up to four times in Super Fun 21, and your 21 beats the dealer’s. You can also double down at any moment and instantly double your money when you have a hand with five or more cards totaling 21. Additionally, the Super Fun 21 version of Blackjack pays only 6-5 instead of 3-2, which is a significant change. In Super Fun 21 Blackjack, only during the first round of a newly shuffled deck can a player put a side wager on landing a Blackjack. The odds are 300:1. For this unusual side bet, players can choose which suit or suits they want to gamble on. Pontoon Types of Blackjack In the sections below, we’ll cover a few types of Pontoon Blackjacks. British Pontoon Pontoon was the British variation of Blackjack before it became famous internationally because it was a unique and exciting form of the game. British Pontoon has significant changes compared to more traditional types. At least two players are necessary, but five to eight are ideal. If the table is unoccupied, you can play heads-up Pontoon versus the dealer. However, Playtech and Betsoft provide online Multi-Hand Blackjack variants that let you bet on up to three or five hands at once. In this form, 21 hand is dubbed “Pontoon.” It consists of an ace and a 10-value card like ten, Jack, Queen, or King. The advantage of Pontoon is that even after splitting, 21s count as naturals, so the odds can be more than 2-1. The five-card trick is the second-best hand, consisting of five cards totaling no more than 21. Any unbusted hand with precisely five cards wins in Pontoon, regardless of its total. Pontoon pays even money on non-busted hands of 21 or less. As in classic Blackjack, busted hands above 21 lose immediately. In British Pontoon, the dealer’s cards are face-down, which changes the game’s entire strategy because the dealer’s second card isn’t visible. As a result, British Pontoon lacks the insurance side bet that Blackjack players get when the dealer’s first card is an ace. Spanish 21 In Spanish 21, which is quite similar to Pontoon, all 10s are eliminated from the deck. Although this would normally result in a bigger house advantage, the game makes up for it by allowing other player-friendly terms: Dealer must stand on soft 17. Players can double after splitting and re-splitting. After doubling your bet, you have the option to surrender. Double Attack Atlantic City casinos offer Double Attack Blackjack, which is one of the types of Blackjack that pays even money on a Blackjack and allows players to double their bet after viewing the dealer’s upcard. Also, the Bust It! side bet predicts whether the dealer will bust on the third card. This side wager is placed before the dealer’s upcard. If the dealer has an eight, receives another eight of the same color or suit, and busts, there’s an extra payout. The Bust It! side bet pays according to how many cards the dealer busts with: If the dealer busts with 3 or 4 cards, players receive a 2-1 payout. For 5-card busts, they get a 4-1 payout. For 6-card busts, they’ll have a 12-1 payout. If the dealer busts with seven or eight cards, the payouts are massive: 50-1 and 250-1. Double Attack Blackjack uses eight Spanish 48-card decks, and the dealer always stands on soft 17. Insurance pays 5-2, but the dealer can peek for Blackjack. Other differences are that doubling is allowed even after splitting, and players can split aces once for one additional card and all other cards four times. Lastly, any player can double or surrender at any time, but note that there’s no re-doubling. Face Up 21 Face Up 21 is the most uncommon type of Blackjack where the dealer holds two face-up cards, and he must hit on a soft 17. If the dealer has 20, you must hit on 19 to get an ace or two to tie or win. Also, players receive even money for Blackjack, as opposed to the 3-2. When the player’s hand ties with the dealer’s, the dealer wins unless the player has Blackjack. In this version, players can split aces but get only one extra card per ace. You may double up on a split, but only with hands that total 9, 10, or 11. Some online casinos will allow you to re-split up to 3 times. Match Play 21 Match Play 21 is played with ten fewer cards than the typical types of Blackjack. Worry not, because aces and face cards remain in the deck, which lessens the player’s probability of winning with each additional deck. Match Play 21 is normally played with six decks, but the range is between two and eight. Players can split up to two times if they have two cards of the same value, and when doubling down, just one more card is dealt. To counter the dealer’s edge, the payout plan is more rewarding: A 5-card Blackjack pays 3-2. 21 on six cards pays 2-1. Getting a natural with seven or more cards rewards the player with a 3-1 payout. Any 6-7-8 combo pays 3-2, suited one pays 2-1. Spades 6-7-8 combination locks 3-1 payout. The above payouts apply to 7-7-7 combos, but when the dealer shows a 7, this combination pays out 40-1. Perfect Pairs Side Bet Perfect Pairs is a side wager where the player’s first two cards form a pair, and there are three distinct sorts of perfect pairs, each paying out differently: In a mixed pair, the suit and color are different, but the card’s value is the same. Colored pairs have the same value and color, but a different suit. A perfect pair is the same exact card. Any 6-7-8 combo pays 3-2, suited one pays 2-1. Spades 6-7-8 combination locks 3-1 payout. The above payouts apply to 7-7-7 combos, but when the dealer shows a 7, this combination pays out 40-1. Before any cards are dealt, players must determine whether they wish to participate in the Perfect Pairs side bet. The payouts differ, but usually, it is 5-1 for a mixed pair, 10-1 or 12-1 for a colored pair, and 30-1 for a perfect one.

How To Use a Blackjack Cheat Sheet
Blackjack is a casino game where a combination of luck and skill can bring you a lot of money, and many players have their own “from rags to riches” stories to tell. Unlike playing slots, where you need to rely on luck alone, playing blackjack requires understanding a blackjack cheat sheet, so you can devise a solid strategy and, ideally, card counting skill. Stay tuned as I’ll provide details on soft and hard hand combinations, basic blackjack strategy, and frequently asked questions. Blackjack Cheat Sheet Combinations The goal of casino games is to entertain you while taking risks. Gamblers are always looking for ways to lower the house edge in order to make the best of a bad situation and improve their chances of winning. And, in order to achieve this, players use a blackjack cheat sheet. If you plan to play a game against the dealer, you can easily improve your chances of winning if you know how to use it. The blackjack cheat sheet is a necessary tool that was made to help players improve their game and increase their chances of winning big while lowering the house edge. We’ll look at two different cheat sheets in this guide. One is based on what happens when the dealer has a soft 17, and the other is based on what happens when the dealer hits. First, you need to know what the phrase “soft hand” means. When a player has an ace in their hand and can’t go bust after a certain draw, they have a “soft hand.” Because an ace can be counted as either 1 or 11, the total value of your hand cannot be more than 21. If you have an A and a 6, for example, it could be a 17 or a 7. “Soft 17” is the name for this hand, and if you have it, you can draw freely without worrying. Soft Combinations Here are all the different ways you can have a soft hand: A2/13 — 13 or 3 A3/14 — 14 or 4 A4/15 — 15 or 5 A5/16 — 16 or 6 A6/17 — 17 or 7 A7/18 — 18 or 8 A8/19 — 19 or 9 (in most cases you should stand) A9/20 — 20 or 10 (in this case you should always stand) If you have an ace and a 10 or a face card, you’re guaranteed to have an unbeatable blackjack. Hard Hand Combinations Besides a soft hand, there’s a hard hand which is also called total. It’s any pair of cards other than an ace. With a hard hand, it’s likely that you’ll go bust after drawing another set of cards. Among the hard totals are the following: 9 — 7 (Hard hand 16) 8 — 6 (Hard hand 14) 10 —7 (Hard hand 17) If you have a high card in this situation, it’s likely that you will break. Therefore, drawing when you have a bad hand is a risky thing to do. Before we go into the cheat chart, let’s go over moves and how they’re represented in the picture. H – Hit S – Stand P – Split Ph – If allowed, split, otherwise hit. Pd – If allowed, split, otherwise double. Ds – If possible, double, otherwise stand. Dh – If possible, double, otherwise hit. Rh – If you can, surrender, otherwise hit. Rs – If you can, surrender, otherwise stand. Rp – If you can, surrender, otherwise split. Now, we’ll look at the optimal basic strategy cheat sheet for a game of blackjack with 4 to 8 decks.
Blackjack Cheat Sheet
The Basic Blackjack Strategy Before going into details about different actions, we’re going to explain the basic moves of blackjack: Stand — You should choose to play stand when you have a good combination of cards. It’s counted as a positive move because you’re waiting for one more card. Double down — When it’s possible, you can double down on your previous bet. The most common thing players do in this situation is doubling down or hitting if they have a hard 10 or hard 11. Hit — When you don’t have a good hand, you should play hit and draw one more card, specifically when the dealer has already shown his card. Give up or not — The first thing you should think about when playing your hand is whether or not to give up. You can do this only after you’ve been dealt your first two cards. If you’ve taken a card, you’re not able to give up. Break or not — This is an option when your first two cards are a pair or when you have two ten-valued cards (a king and a jack, for example). It’s the second most important decision you’ll make. Double or not — Keep in mind that in certain online casinos, you can’t double on some hands. Try to rule this out before moving on. If your basic blackjack chart strategy says you should double, take this as a good sign! What it’s telling you is that you’ll probably win the hand. Strike or stand — This is the last thing to think about in basic strategy. If there are no other options, you should choose hit or stand. If you want to learn more, check out our article about different versions of blackjack where you can read about additional rules. Analyzing the Blackjack Cheat Sheet If you want to learn how to play blackjack like a pro, you should practice by playing the game and looking at the blackjack cheat sheet at the same time so you can memorize it and use it properly when you decide to play for real money. For example, you may find that if the dealer shows an 8 or a higher number, you aren’t usually expected to split pocket pairs that are lower than 88s. Another important thing to remember is that you shouldn’t split tens because you’ll have 20 in your hand and the dealer can’t beat that so easily, you should just keep it and take your win. Take a look at our table to find out more: The Dos Within Blackjack The Don’ts Within Blackjack Split 88s and aces Don’t follow the dealer’s rules too strictly Unless the dealer has a 7 or higher, you can split 2, 3, 6, 7, and 9s Don’t hit again when you have a “soft 19.” If you have 11 or less, take the hit Don’t split pairs of Jacks, 10s, Kings, or Queens, which are all worth 10. If the dealer has a 7 or higher while you have between 12 and 16, take the hit Most of the time, when the dealer has an ace, he or she gets the standard 30%. So, it doesn’t make sense to put money on him. Avoid buying insurance. When you have a soft 17, take a hit Conclusion It’s important to go beyond the cheat sheet if you want to get better at playing online blackjack. Don’t worry, the game won’t scare you. It’s based on clear, simple rules — you just need to get all the necessary information. Learn the basic rules of blackjack and the different ways you can play the game. Also, learn the game’s basic strategy, how to count cards, and how to use the blackjack cheat sheet like a pro. If you know enough about the strategy of the game and counting cards, you’ll be able to play blackjack without any problems. FAQ Can you use a cheat sheet at a blackjack table? Casinos don’t have cheat sheet rules, so players can use strategy cards. Should you hit on a 12 or 13 in blackjack? Blackjack players usually hit on eight or less and stand on 12 or anything higher. However, if the dealer has a three, you should hit on numbers from eight to twelve, and stand on thirteen or higher.

This dynamic shift in calls is a reflection of contemporary cultural influences, evident in the updated list of modern bingo calls. These new calls often draw inspiration from recent events, celebrities, and current trends. They represent a fresh take on the classic game, injecting humor and relevance into every round. As for funny bingo calls, they add entertainment, often eliciting smiles from players.  While traditional calls hold a special place in the hearts of many, these bingo callouts provide a refreshing change, and we’ll go over some of them now in the table below. Initially, these rhymes served a unique purpose, functioning as coded messages or secret lingo among groups.  When bingo started to gain popularity, players in bingo halls adopted these ingenious rhymes as a practical tool to distinguish between similar-sounding numbers. For instance, distinguishing between 15 and 50 in a bustling hall became easier with these unique nicknames. As bingo grew in popularity even more, these original rhymes evolved, resulting in new bingo phrases that varied from one region to another. Each district added local culture and humor to the mix. This evolution transformed bingo calls into a colorful mosaic of expressions, reflecting the diversity and creativity of bingo communities worldwide. To Call or Not to Call? The Bingo Lingo Dilemma Whimsical nicknames assigned to bingo balls have been a topic of debate among bingo callers. Is it better to stick to straightforward, clear number announcements or embrace the fun and playful aspect of bingo lingo? This dilemma often boils down to personal preference and audiences’ expectations.  The UK’s first female bingo caller, Mandy Gorgan, offers a unique perspective. Prioritizing clarity and focus in her calling style, Mandy chooses not to use traditional calls like “legs 11.” She argues that with significant sums of money involved in the game, silly lingo can be more distracting than entertaining. Beacon Bingo Club’s assistant manager, Mark Wilson, notes a shift in trends, highlighting that certain traditional calls like 88 have become outdated. “It’s very cheesy,” he remarks, suggesting a continuous evolution of bingo lingo. The Internet’s Influence on the Evolution of Bingo Calling Numbers The digital age has played a significant role in transforming bingo, particularly in how bingo nicknames are used and shared. With the rise of online gambling, bingo fanatics from the UK and beyond can connect and play free bingo, sharing regional sayings and enjoying camaraderie. This online interaction has helped spread bingo calls more widely than ever, keeping them vibrant and evolving. Playing bingo, whether on online bingo sites, in a pub, or in a traditional bingo hall, isn’t just about the game; it’s about the community. The humorous banter over various calls and numbers adds to the fun, creating bonds among players who share laughs and the thrill of the game. This sense of community is a key reason why bingo remains one of the most beloved gambling games worldwide.
What Is a Non-Sticky Bonus?
New player incentives are something that many online casinos today opt to give out. Some might even say this is mandatory practice for every casino. This is the result of the intense competition that exists in the gambling industry. An extensive bonus offer may be helpful in attracting new players who are seeking a new gaming platform, or those who are just starting now. The learning curve can be high for beginners in the expanding world of online gambling. There are a lot of games to learn, and there is a lot of vocabulary to get familiar with.   It is quite certain that having a more in-depth understanding of these topics would make the games more enjoyable and provide the players with an improved capacity to build effective plans. This is where we will introduce a non-sticky bonus, a relatively new term in the gaming business. In principle, casino bonuses may be divided into two categories: sticky and non-sticky bonuses. Luckily, this concept can be grasped even by players who have never played before.   However, with the fast pace that technology moves at, this definitely can’t be said about Canadian online casinos which have now caught up with the times and offer a number of interesting options for players to look into, which are all approved by Canadian banks. [sigma-mt-blog-post-play recordids=”516538,643575″] Sticky bonus   The pros and cons of sticky bonuses are quite easy to understand. Basically, a bonus that is considered sticky cannot be cashed out. Many online casinos will give you a bonus on top of the money you put into your account. The size of this incentive is often expressed as a percentage of the first minimum deposit you made. A sticky bonus provides you an opportunity to increase your bankroll before the game starts. In fact, if you get a sticky bonus, you can receive a substantial bonus. Some new casinos match deposits up to 300 or 400 percent.   Usually, the case is that they match the whole amount of the deposit made to 100%. A sticky type of bonus converts deposit and bonus into a single entity. This incentive is not withdrawable until all the wagering requirements are met. For example, if a player deposits $100 with a 100% bonus, the bonus balance or the bonus account will show $200. This $200 is then subjected to the minimum wagering requirement decided by the casino. Only after completing the mandatory number of times that the amount has to be rolled over, can players withdraw their winnings.   Non-sticky bonus   On the other hand, if a casino offers a non-sticky bonus, this indicates that a player can withdraw the initial deposit as well as any winnings made from this deposit, without being required to fulfil any wagering requirement. This is a major benefit of playing at casinos that offer non-sticky bonuses. To put it another way, the bonus and the deposit are separate from one another and do not stick together. Firstly, gamblers play with real money. If they are successful, they are able to cash out their earnings. As long as they’re playing with the actual money, they don’t have to worry about maximum bets or which games count towards reaching the wagering requirement.   However, they’ll be required to give up the bonus money that was awarded. If a player loses the cash, then the bonus money becomes active, as a form of lifeline. That’s why the other most common term for this bonus type is parachute bonus. It is also sometimes referred to as a lifeline bonus, forfeitable, or non-cashable bonus. It’s always a good idea to opt for non-sticky incentives since they provide you with better chances of winning. Unlike sticky ones, in most circumstances, a non-sticky casino bonus is between 50% and 100%.   It is prohibited in the United Kingdom to stick casino incentives to players’ deposits. The UK Gambling Commission enacted restrictions to tackle this issue. As a result, all bonuses in the United Kingdom must be non-sticky. Parachute bonuses are accessible outside the United Kingdom but are more difficult to come by. As well as with any other offer, a bonus code is optional, so players need to check whether the casino they deposited at requires it. [sigma-mt-blog-post-play recordids=”643626,643759″] Best non-sticky bonuses   Obviously, just as they are looking for casinos that offer the highest number of free spins, all players would like to know which sites offer the best non-sticky casino bonus. Earlier we mentioned that, usually, the match-up percentage for these bonuses is between 50% and 100%. However, there are those casinos that go beyond this unwritten rule, so let’s review some of the best non-sticky bonuses. [get-play-banner] 100% Match Bonus   The current leader in the industry is Casino Voila which matches 100% up to €1000. Secondly, there’s a group of casinos offering a 100% non-sticky bonus match but for quite impressive amounts. Wazamba, 7Signs, 5Gringos, Buran, Neon54, Boomerang, GreatWin, LibraBet, Casinoly, Casinia, BoaBoa, ExciteWin, Sportaza, Slots Palace, and Dolly casinos follow with a €500 maximum. The next duo of casinos will match up to €400. Those are Tusk and Cazimbo.   Wazamba also rewards second and third deposits with 110% up to €500, and 100% up to €300. Also, the avatar check is necessary at 7Signs, as well. At 5Gringos casino, the second deposit brings players a 75% bonus up to €300, and for the third players will receive 50% up to €200. Neon54 and Slots Palace applied the same structure for their non-sticky bonuses.   Various percentages   Stakes and Rabona casinos have a slightly better offer than the group offering 100% up to € 500. They will both match the deposits up to €500. But for Stakes, you’ll need less cash since they grant 150%, and Rabona does 120%.   Cadoola Casino rewards the first four deposits. It starts with 120% up to €240, then 110% up to €220 and 100% up to €100, and it comes full circle with 120% up to €240 for the fourth deposit. Alf Casino has the same bonus structure. Casombie Casino decided to do a 130% match up to €130, while Ice Casino is doing 120% up to €300. [sigma-mt-blog-post-play recordids=”503339″] A couple of casinos offer 200% bonuses. For example, Nomini does it up to €50 for newcomers. There is a small catch though, players must choose a Carambola Welcome Bonus avatar. Meanwhile, CosmicSlot Casino recently had a run offering 200% up to €200, but it seems that this casino decided to divide the offer into bonuses for the first four deposits, that equal to 100%, 50%, 25%, and 77% respectively.   Conclusion   To summarize, once they burn through initial, real money deposit funds, players should always check which games and how much they contribute towards reaching the wagering requirements. Usually, the highest percentage of contributions goes to selected slots, where even 100% is possible. Table games, live dealer games, or other live casino games will most likely contribute much less to the requirements. Keep in mind that casinos, like the aforementioned CosmicSlot, are constantly changing their terms and conditions. This is not a surprise for more experienced players, as that fact is written in the general terms and conditions.
Interesting Online Casino Facts You Didn’t Know So Far
Let’s talk about online casino facts you may not know so far. Over the past two decades, online casinos and gambling sites have grown from strength to strength and today represent the most popular way for players to enjoy their favorite gambling games without ever needing to leave the comfort of their homes. If you’re known to enjoy a couple of rounds at the online casino every now and then, this article may be for you. Here are some fun gambling facts you might not have been aware of until now. #1 – IT’S A MAN’S WORLD Among the first online gambling facts, you should know that most of the player base is predominantly male. Statistically speaking, about 11% of internet users actively engage in regular online gambling, with around 80% of those being male. Of course, these figures focus not only on slot machines and table games but also on sports betting, amongst others. Another interesting fact is that these players tend to be over 30 years old most of the time, which is great news as problem gamblers tend to be younger most of the time and are 7.5 times more likely to develop an addiction than when compared to their female counterparts. Regarding live casino games, it’s also statistically shown that men tend to prefer this option more than women. If you happen to be new to the world of online casinos, then live casinos offers a scenario where a live dealer is streamed on a 24/7 basis from a live casino studio, offering an online gambling experience that’s as close to real life as it gets. #2 – THE DEATH OF THE ONE-ARMED BANDIT Because land-based slot machines originally included a large lever on the side that was used to get the reels spinning, many referred to these games as one-armed bandits in the past. However, with the introduction of modern slot machines, all you’ve got to do is press the spin button most of the time to get the game going. In the past, slot machines were exclusively used for gambling purposes, but since many online casinos will allow you to play these same games for free these days, there’s also an element of entertainment that’s associated with these games too. Another interesting fact about modern online slots is that many of them are branded to represent movies, bands, and even video games that you’ve enjoyed in the past. For this reason, among interesting facts about online casinos is that you can experience your favorite bits of pop culture come to life on the reels, many a time, without the need to whip out your credit card before you’re entirely sure this slot is for you. #3 – IN THE VERY BEGINNING When it comes to online gambling, the first thing that generally comes to mind for most people is online casinos, however, did you know that the first form of online gambling actually involved a lottery instead? In 1994, the internet was still in its infancy and was considerably much slower than the broadband high speeds we’re used to today. Regardless, an online company called InterCasino launched the world’s first online casino and briefly introduced the first online lottery after this. This new concept completely revolutionized the way we think of money-stake games. It paved the way for the industry that was about to change everything we ever thought about gambling – how about that for a dose of online casino facts for the day? #4 – MODERN GAMBLER STATS The average age of online gambling players is between 18 to 39 years of age, which is interestingly lower than the general population’s average age of 37. These figures dispel the notion that online gambling and frequent casinos is generally reserved for older players. Apart from that, another fun fact about gambling is that statistics also show that the average online gambler is rather affluent, with a median household income of around $75,000 per year. These figures are above the median household income in the US, for example, which currently stands at just over $60K. This leads us to believe that if you’re on the lookout for online gamblers with disposable income that’s above average, then online casinos are generally a good place to make that connection, as well as being able to interact with live dealers. Finally, modern-day gamblers have proven to be even more tech-savvy, with around 85% playing from their computer and laptop devices and the remaining 15% resorting to their mobile phones or tablets in order to enjoy their favorite games. #5 – MEN LOVE SKILL WHILE WOMEN PREFER LUCK When it comes to game choice in modern online casinos, studies have indicated that men are more likely to gravitate towards skill-based games, while women would more often pick out luck-based games. As a general concept, this makes sense, as men are generally more likely to enjoy being analytical and logical, while women will often rely on emotion and intuition. For this reason, when looking up interesting facts about gambling to include in this update, we discovered that table games are still amongst the most popular form of online casino games amongst male online gamblers, while most women online casino players will often opt to play slot machines or bingo amongst others. Then again, there’s no hard and fast rule, and of course, there are exceptions to every rule and statistic. However, there are always other fun facts about casinos to keep in mind the next time you’re about to strike up a conversation in a live casino lobby. #6 – THE DEVIL’S GAME You might not already know this, but roulette is often referred to as the Devil’s game by many players from around the world, and the reason for this is actually quite interesting. If you add up all the numbers displayed on the wheel, you’ll end up with a total of 666, which is sometimes also referred to as ‘the number of the beast’. Even though some might find this to be a little scary, it’s all just superstitious fun. Statistically speaking, most would agree that spinning the roulette wheel is one of the best games in terms of win potential, which makes it so massively popular in both brick-and-mortar as well as online casinos. Because you can bet on red or black, there’s almost a 50% chance of landing a win on each spin, which is very high compared to other games such as Blackjack or Poker. Even though the odds are relatively low in this game, there’s still the chance of earning your bet back at the end of the round. We say almost and not a confirmed 50% due to the fact that American roulette wheels have an extra double zero ‘00’ pocket when compared to their European counterparts, which could set this percentage a little off if you happen to be playing this variant. #7 – THE MOST POPULAR OF THEM ALL When it comes to the world of online casinos, the most popular table game at gambling sites is Blackjack, and this definitely doesn’t come as a surprise. Thanks to the simple nature of the game, along with the fact that it’s both skill and luck based, the age-old game of 21 beats all records when compared to other popular table games such as Baccarat or Poker, for instance. Another online casino fact that you’re going to want to keep in mind is that when it comes to the house edge, this is kept relatively low when it comes to Blackjack, with players offered the chance to potentially land a winning hand more regularly than they would in other games. The fast pace of the game also contributes to the entertainment factor of this game, however, when it comes to fast games, online slots definitely rank in first position, with game rounds taking a couple of seconds and no previous knowledge of gambling games generally required. #8 – IT’S BIGGER AND BETTER ONLINE Due to physical limitations, brick-and-mortar casinos needed to choose their game selection carefully in the past to ensure that they were able to house all of their games within the premises, however, this is definitely not the case with online casinos. Offering hundreds, sometimes thousands of game options, online casinos can load up as many games as they like without ever needing to worry about where to park the next slot machine, which is another fun fact about online casinos to keep in mind. Apart from that, online casinos are also known for offering bigger casino bonuses and promotions with lower wagering requirements, starting with a welcome bonus that generally includes a bonus as well as free spins in some cases, as well as a series of regular promotions that offered by the casino either directly through their website or by means of email notifications which are delivered directly to your inbox. #9 – LIFE CHANGING MULTI-MILLION JACKPOTS When it comes to jackpot online casino games, some of the biggest wins recorded have been in the eight-figure region, with the largest recorded win to date happening in April 2021 with a 20p spin. In this case, a Belgian player landed the life-changing spin of a lifetime and bagged an impressive $23.6 million win on Microgaming’s Absolootly Mad Mega Moolah game. Other impressive wins that happened in jackpot online casino games include a $23.5 million win on Mega Moolah, also by Microgaming in 2018, which subsequently made its way to the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s largest win at an online casino. In third place, we’ve got a $21 million win on NetEnt’s Mega Fortune that was one by one very lucky player in Finland, while another $19.9 million win was won once again on Mega Moolah by a player from Cheshire, UK. #10 – ONLINE CASINOS NEVER SLEEP And finally, our last interesting fact about online casinos today – while there was a time when players needed to abide by the opening times of their favorite land-based casinos, the advent of online casinos changed that concept completely. Available seven days a week, 365 days a year, on a 24/7 basis, you’re always one click away from your favorite games as long as you’ve got a decent internet connection – it’s really safe to say that the world of online casinos has literally revolutionized the game from start to end. This means that rather than needing to plan a trip to the casino, online gamblers are now able to enjoy their favorite online casino games, including live casino with live dealers anytime, anywhere, from all devices, including computers, tablets, e-readers, as well as their mobile phones, and keep their online gambling account topped up via credit card which is pretty handy.
How To Count Cards in Blackjack
Whether you’ve been around gambling for a long time or you’ve seen the casino movie “21”, you’re sure to have heard of card counting by now. There have been many players over the years who have used this blackjack strategy. This article will explain the ins and outs of blackjack card counting and how you can use it to your advantage to beat the house. There are, of course, some restrictions that apply to the use of this technique, and I will go over them as well. However, as soon as you finish this course, you will understand how card counting works and the basic skills you need to start with card counting. After that, you must get a deck of cards and a couple of friends and start practicing with them. It is possible that you will win a large sum of money if you get good enough and find the right place to start card counting. What Is Card Counting? In blackjack, card counting is a method for determining whether the next hand will be advantageous to the player or the dealer. It is the objective and intention of the card counters to keep a count of the high and low-value cards that appear in the game, as is evident from the game, and by doing so, minimize the house edge of the casino as much as possible. By counting cards, players can determine the composition of the remaining cards before they are dealt and played, thereby minimizing their losses. Card counting is also known as card reading in trick-taking games such as spades and contract bridge. In addition, certain poker variants may also benefit from card counting. How does Card Counting Works? Card counting helps players maximize their wins and minimize losses in real money blackjack games. Advantage players (also known as card counters) change their play based on the composition of the cards left in the dealer’s shoe. Combining these factors, blackjack players can reverse the casino’s edge. Essentially, card counting works as follows: 1. A player assigns a value to each card based on its face and number, either negative, positive, or zero. 2. Based on the cards dealt in the game, they keep a ‘running count.’ 3. When a player is confident of the ‘true count,’ they can alter their bets according to their advantage. 4. With fewer cards left in the shoe, the player makes more decisive wagers and improves their true count. Anyone with patience, practice, and attention to detail can learn this blackjack strategy. However, learning card counting is worth your time and effort since it is one of the most effective strategies for winning at blackjack. How To Count Cards in Blackjack Conclusion In blackjack, players can count cards by following three simple steps: The first step is to assign a value to each card based on its plus-minus count. For example, there is a +1 count for cards 2 through 6, a 0 or neutral count for cards 7 to 9, and a -1 count for cards 10 through Ace. Counting begins at 0. Players will add value to the count as each card is dealt. Accordingly, if an Ace, King, 2, 7, 6, 4, and 5 are dealt, the count is +2. Face-down cards are not counted until they are flipped. As cards are dealt out of the deck, the counting continues. It is based on the count that betting decisions are made. It is ideal for a player to place a higher bet if the count is negative and a lower bet if it is positive. In online blackjack, card counting can also be performed using the same steps. As soon as the cards have been shuffled and dealt, players would start counting. As soon as the running count reaches a positive number and the undealt cards are mostly high cards, the players must increase their bet. In the case of the opposite scenario, reducing the bet is the best option. Card Counting Systems In Blackjack Blackjack players use various card counting systems, some of which are more distinctive than others. The level of difficulty of these varies from straightforward to advanced. Hi-Lo System In a deck with fewer high cards left, a player’s advantage decreases as the number of high cards decreases. The dealer benefits from low cards, which is why they get a +1 value. 7s, 8s, and 9s don’t benefit the player or the dealer, so they receive a value of 0. As a result of the combination of Neutral, High, and Low cards in a deck equal to zero, the Hi-Lo strategy is called a ‘balanced’ counting strategy. According to these metrics, the Hi-Lo system requires you to calculate a running total of all cards played in the game, including those held by the dealer and other players. ‘Running count’ refers to this. To explain Classic Blackjack, let’s look at an example: Once the dealer introduces a new shoe to the table, the Hi-Lo strategy begins. Since no cards have been dealt with, the running count is 0. It depends on the blackjack game that the cards are dealt around the table in a certain order. To calculate the ‘running count’ based on the cards dealt. Omega II System Bruce Carlson developed the Omega II card counting system for intermediate-level players. A multi-level system is also used, where some cards are worth two points and some are worth one point. Cards 2, 3, and 7 have a value of +1, while cards 4, 5, and 6 have a value of +2. The 9 is marked with a -1, while the 10 and the face cards King, Queen, and Jack are marked with a -2. Aces and eights are counted as zero. In a balanced card counting system, the player reaches 0 when all cards are dealt if they keep track correctly. Hi-Opt I & II Systems There are two Hi-Opt systems, Hi-Opt I and Hi-Opt II. Let’s examine them separately. Hi-Opt I consists of: A +1 value is assigned to the 3, 4, 5, and 6 cards, King, Queen, Jack, and Tens are all -1 The Ace, 2, 7, 8, or 9 are 0. As with the Hi-Lo system, players must keep a running count to make informed bets. There are different values assigned to each card in the Hi-Opt II system. 2, 3, 6, or 7 receive a +1 value. As soon as the players see cards 4 and 5, they must add 2 to their running count. In the case of 10 and the face cards, players need to subtract 2 from their running count. The value of an Ace, 8 or 9, is 0. Wong Halves System A three-level card counting system developed by Stanford Wong is the Wong Halves System. This system is also balanced, like the Omega II. After dealing with all the cards in the deck, your calculations should result in zero. After each deck has been dealt with, players are encouraged to calculate their true counts. Wong’s system assigns the following values to the cards: A value of -1 is assigned to 10’s, Jacks, Kings, Queens, and Aces; The value of 8 is -1/2 A 9 has a neutral value of 0 5’s are 1 ½, 3’s, 4’s, and 6’s are valued at 1 The value of 2 and 7 is ½. To avoid fractions, players can double the value of ½. To determine the odds of winning, convert the running count to a true count. Calculating the final count after each deck would be a good idea. It’s easier to do this than to calculate a final count from several decks of cards. Red 7 System As a one-level system, the Red 7 system of counting cards in blackjack is simple and easy for beginners. The system works on the basis of high and low cards. A -1 value is assigned to higher value cards, while a +1 value is assigned to lower value cards. Neutral 8s and 9s are marked with 0. This system also takes color into account with regards to the 7s. Whenever the 7 is red, it is considered a low-value card (+1), while when it is black, it is considered neutral and is given a 0. It is better for the players if the final count is higher. KO System It is commonly known as the Knock-Out card counting system and is suitable for both beginners and intermediate players. In a book entitled Knock Out Blackjack, Fuchs and Vancura introduced the system. Like the Hi-Lo method, tens, aces, queens, jacks, and kings are assigned a -1, whereas 2-7 are assigned a +1. On the other hand, 8’s and 9’s are marked as 0. When all cards have been dealt, the final count will not equal zero, indicating that the system is not balanced. Zen Count Another balanced system is the Zen Count, where the count decreases to 0 at the end of the game. It is also one of the simplest systems, and the cards are valued as follows: 2, 3, 7 = +1 4, 5, 6 = +2 8, 9 = 0 10, Jack, Queen, King = -2 Ace = -1 If the player’s true count is 0 or less, They will place the minimum bet, and you will increase your bets by 1 unit for each increase. Of course, players must also be aware of this steady increase to avoid catching the casino’s attention. Team Card Counting MIT’s blackjack team card counting system is largely based on the Hi-Lo system, which assigns the same values to each card. As a result, high cards are -1, low cards are +1, and the rest are 0. The team also used a three-person team strategy that included: A big player, A controller A spotter. After the spotter verified the count, they would signal the big player to place the bet. The team could beat several casinos and make millions of dollars within a short period. True Count’ in Blackjack? How Does it Affect Card Counting? Even though card counting sounds simple, online casinos complicate the process by adding more decks. Consequently, it is more difficult to identify the concentration of high and low cards left in the shoe. As a result, players’ advantage in six- or eight-deck blackjack games is skewed compared to single-deck 21. The Hi-Lo system requires another step: the ‘true count.’ During a multi-deck blackjack game, this calculation tells the player their advantage. You can convert your running count into the true count by dividing it by the number of decks remaining in the game. Here’s another example: In an 8-deck blackjack game, you have a running count of +7. The shoe has roughly four decks left, giving you a true count of +1.75, or 2. Your advantage increases as the true count increases. Therefore, when the house has an advantage, players should wager as little as possible and increase their wagers proportionally. How to Count Cards with 1 Deck Using the Hi-Lo system above, players in single-deck games only need the running count to assess their advantage. A true count isn’t necessary. As a result, you can spend more time applying basic strategy to your card counting. New card counters will enjoy single-deck blackjack games. With fewer decks, players have the best odds, and beginner counters can easily track their advantage. Additionally, single-deck blackjack has a house edge of just 0.16%. Online casinos sometimes add restrictions to single-deck blackjack games to tip the odds in their favor. For example, some rules restrict players’ moves and winnings, such as limiting re-splits and letting the dealer hit on a soft 17. How to Count Cards with Multiple Decks When playing multi-deck blackjack games, players must convert their running count into the true count using a balanced counting system like Hi-Lo. Using the true count, every card counting system can be used in blackjack, regardless of the number of decks. You can adjust your bets accordingly when you know how many high-value cards are left in the shoe. Tips for Mastering Card Counting Some players struggle to keep track of their cards when they combine card counting systems with basic strategy. Practicing until card counting becomes automatic is the key to success. Below are some exercises you can try. Keep a running count of the cards in a single deck Take one card out of the deck and keep a running count; you should know the value by the end Time yourself – the more cards you can count within a certain period, the better your card counting skills will be Live Online Blackjack Card Counting Online searches for ‘card counting’ and ‘live blackjack’ generate passionate and often conflicting advice. Although card counting is possible in live blackjack, it is extremely difficult. Online casinos use the following methods to reduce or eliminate a card counter’s advantage in live blackjack: CSMs (Continuous Shuffling Machines): Players can’t count cards using these devices because decks are constantly shuffled. Deck Penetration: In some online casinos, 8-deck shoes are replaced after 50% of the cards have been played, so card counting is ineffective. Rounds Per Hour: The speed of live blackjack games limits the number of hands played and the overall winnings of card counters. Blackjack Rules: A 6:5 payout or the dealer hitting on soft 17 can increase the house edge so much that card counting becomes impossible. Card Scanning: Before adding cards to the table, dealers sometimes scan them. Then, the casino’s systems analyze players’ betting patterns and table cards to identify any counting. Look for online casinos that pay 3:2 for live blackjack, like Betway or LeoVegas, if you want to play live blackjack. Choose a table where the dealer manually shuffles the cards or uses a batch shuffler. You can still count cards with these systems depending on deck penetration. Lastly, look for live blackjack games with favorable rules. Card Counting Apps Blackjack card counting can be explained as a technique, but it is a difficult skill to master. In addition to memorizing, card counters must be mathematically minded and able to process numbers very quickly in their minds. Apps can make learning card counting easier for blackjack players, however. With Card Counter Lite, players can learn real blackjack card counting techniques through an app. Another app that blackjack players love is Blackjack & Card Counting Pro. ‘A Blackjack Card Counter’ is another iPhone card-counting app that assists players in determining when to bet in the game. Additionally, there are a few gadgets that can assist players in the process of card counting while playing blackjack. However, these apps and gadgets are best used to learn the skill rather than in a real casino. Is Card Counting Illegal? The US and British laws do not prohibit card counting. The casinos, however, strictly prohibit players from using any external card counting device or person to assist them in counting cards. In general, casinos oppose card counting and try to prevent it. Often, they ban suspected card counters from playing in the casinos. Even though many casinos do not have the legal right to ban players, but considering that a casino is a private property, they can kick card counters out. Some casinos, especially in Nevada, strictly prohibit the use of card counting apps and devices. The reason is that card counters can lower the house edge significantly, causing the casino to lose money. FAQ Is blackjack card counting still possible? Yes. The players need to keep track of their cards as they are dealt with based on these values. As the game progresses, bets are placed accordingly. When should you bet in blackjack when counting cards? It is generally advisable to increase the bet when the running count is positive and the undealt cards are mainly high. Conversely, the player should decrease their bet size when the running count is negative, and the undealt cards are low-card heavy.

Texas hold ’em is a variant of poker that is also referred to as Texas holdem, hold’em, or holdem. Each player receives two hole cards, known as hole cards, and then five community cards are dealt face up in three stages. A poker hand consists of three cards “the flop,” a single card, “the turn” or “fourth street,” and a final card, “the river.” Each player tries to create the best five-card poker hand from the five community cards and the two-hole cards. It is possible for players to check, call, raise, or fold their bets. Several betting rounds occur before and after the flop is dealt with and after each subsequent deal. A player who holds the best hand at the end of all betting rounds wins the pot if no one has folded. It is possible for two players with equal hands to split the pot or tie. It is also known as a “chop-pot.” HORSE and HOSE also feature Texas hold’em as the H game. Texas Hold ’em Tips Here we have listed some of the best strategies when playing Texas Hold ’em. Play Good Cards, and You Will Win Any beginner in poker needs to learn the #1 Texas Hold ’em tip: you must play good poker hands to win. One of the biggest reasons amateurs lose at Texas Hold ’em is because they play too many trashy hands! In a 6-person poker game, you should be playing the top 20% of the hands dealt to you, and in a 9-person poker game, the top 15%. 2. Playing in Position is Winning Poker The next Texas Hold ’em strategy is to ensure you are playing most of your hands based on the pre-flop charts above. In other words, you want to play as often as possible from the two seats directly to the right of the blinds, the button, and the cutoff. 3. The Most Important Texas Hold ’em Tip – Don’t Tilt Tilting too much is why some people don’t succeed at Texas Hold ’em. Put another way; they get frustrated when they get bad luck. In addition, they play too many hands, play too aggressively, and make stupid bluffs and bad calls. 4. Only Play Against Bad Poker Players In Texas Hold ’em poker games, this is one of the most important keys to your success. Make sure that you play poker with bad players at all times. When playing online poker with a poker HUD, you should look for players with a VPIP of 40% or higher. Despite the frustration of playing against these “wild” players sometimes, you will profit greatly from them over time. When playing Texas Hold ’em, remember where the money comes from. Tight, solid regulars will not pad your profits. However, there are also many loose and wild amateurs. 5. Study Your Poker Hands The key to improving at Texas Hold ’em is to study your hands to find your leaks. One of the most effective methods you have used to stay ahead of the competition as a poker pro for the last 10+ years is by putting in the hours away from the tables, improving your skills. 6. Study Advanced Texas Hold ’em strategy Additionally, you need to know the latest advanced Texas Hold ’em strategies to succeed in this game. Nowadays, there are a lot of well-advanced poker training programs available. 7. Understand Player Types Keeping track of the type of poker player you are playing against is one of the top Texas Hold ’em tips. Nits, TAGs, LAGs, SLAGs, fish, etc., are frequently encountered. 8. Bring Your “A” Game Every Single Time Too many poker players play Texas Hold ’em when they aren’t ready. As a result, their sleep was not enough, they didn’t eat, and they were depressed, drunk, and hungover. 9. Don’t Wait For the Nuts Another Texas Hold ’em tip is to stop waiting for the nuts before playing, especially against bad players. When you have a below-average hand, sometimes you have to mix it up with them. But unfortunately, many players make the mistake of playing too tight these days. Texas Hold’em Tips to Consider & Rules The most popular version of poker today is Texas Hold’em. Texas Hold ’em rules are used in the World Series of Poker Main Event, and most poker shows feature the game. Get a solid start to your poker career with these Texas Hold’em strategy tips. Read Your Opponent’s Hand: Your opponent’s hand strength can be determined by several factors. They should also consider what the flop offers, their table position, aggression in hand, and general aggression level. Opponent’s Position: Based on the player’s betting position, narrow down the possible outcomes. An early position bet usually indicates a stronger hand. When the flop is seen in a late position (with few opponents), there are more chances for success. Post-Flop Actions: Another clue is what a player does after the flop. Checking indicates uncertainty or weakness while raising indicates strength. Community Cards: “Dry boards” – flops without flush possibilities – are simpler to calculate. You can narrow your opponent’s hand by looking at the broader picture. Opponent Behavior: Is your opponent slow to make a decision? Does it seem shorter or longer than usual? What is the size of the bets? What is the bet size compared to the player’s previous hands? FAQ What’s the worst starting hand you can get in Texas Hold ’em? In terms of statistics, an off-suited 72 should be the worst hand you can draw. When it’s your turn, do you fold it? Many professionals and players with experience in the game will advise you to ditch it immediately. What are the best cards in Texas Hold ’em? Aces and Kings, paired, are usually the best cards. The Royal Flush is, however, the best hand. Before you act, you should refer to a Hold’em cheat sheet for percentages and odds. How many betting rounds are there in Texas Hold ’em? Poker has four betting rounds: the pre-flop, post-flop, turn, and river. Showdown is the last round of betting. Should I play not real money Texas Hold ’em to learn strategies? No. It is generally believed that playing Texas Hold’em for anything other than real money teaches bad habits. Most poker tips recommend playing cash games with small buy-ins, such as 0.01/0.02, also known as micro stakes. They may seem negligible, but they can help you cultivate the right mindset when playing Hold’em. Micro-stakes games can also be converted into tournament tickets, so don’t play without simulating real money.
How to Find the Best Betting Odds
Sports betting odds are influenced by various factors, both general and specific to different sports. Recent performance, win-loss records, past matchups, and statistics are crucial in determining odds. The absence of key players due to injuries or suspensions can significantly shift the odds. Teams often perform better at home due to familiar conditions and support from local fans. Heavy rain, for instance, might impact a football game’s score. Past encounters between teams or players can influence odds, especially if there’s a consistent pattern of wins or losses. When you look at the odds on betting sites, you have to consider many factors. We cut through those aspects to help you secure the best odds, choose the appropriate market, and determine the optimal timing for your betting picks. 1. Know your sport inside out By deeply understanding the sport, bettors can better interpret statistics and trends that can influence games and use them to predict outcomes more accurately. Regularly following a sport provides deeper insights into player form, injuries, and potential line-up changes.  In addition to tactics, team dynamics, playing styles, and historical performances against certain opponents, bettors often consider players’ personal problems, such as disagreements with their coaches. These details will help you make smarter decisions and find valuable bets at top betting sites. 2. Don’t just stick to one bookmaker  Bettors can limit themselves if they stick to a single bookmaker. For example, various bookmakers give different odds on the same events. By shopping around, bettors can be certain they are receiving the most value for their bets. Even little variations in odds might lead to considerable increases in possible winnings over time. This approach, known as odds shopping, is critical for anyone serious about profiting from sports betting. Furthermore, several bookmakers provide a range of incentives, promotions, and special deals that might be helpful to bettors. These may include welcome bonuses, free bets, improved odds, and cashback offers, all of which can provide value above and beyond the odds. Certain bookies may specialize in specific sports or events or provide greater market depth. By sticking to a single bookmaker, a punter may miss out on the extensive coverage of favorite sports or events. Finally, the betting experience can differ dramatically among bookies regarding user interface, customer service, and the availability of extra services, such as live streaming, in-play betting, and cash-out choices. 3. Don’t bet only on the favorites Favorites typically have lower odds because they are more likely to win, meaning the potential returns on a bet are down compared to betting on an underdog. Also, sports are inherently unpredictable, and upsets are more common than one might think. By betting only on favorites, bettors ignore the potential value that can be found in underdog victories. Sometimes, favorites are overvalued based on reputation rather than current form or specific matchup conditions. Ultimately, odds are influenced by public perception and betting patterns. The fact is that favorites often attract attention and money, which might lead to shorter odds and less value for the bettor. 4. The fewer selections, the better Keeping your bets simple or placing single bets might be a more successful strategy than accumulating picks. The fundamental reason for preferring fewer selections is the increased probability of winning—each additional selection in a bet multiplies the risk since every selection must be correct. By betting on fewer selections, you reduce the impact of variance. With fewer bets, the outcome is more likely to reflect your skill and knowledge rather than random chance. Also, focusing on fewer selections allows for more thorough research of each choice. When betting on a single game or event, you can analyze relevant situational factors and concentrate on identifying value in the betting markets. This detailed analysis is more likely to lead to rational betting decisions than spreading your focus across many games or events. 5. Avoid the temptation of odds-on prices Be mindful of the false sense of security that odds-on prices can create. Upsets are common in sports, and even the most favored can lose, leading to significant losses, especially if a bettor has staked a large amount due to a low return. Effective bankroll management is crucial in sports betting. Punters risk more money than they stand to win, which means that even a few losses can be challenging to recover from. One of the critical aspects of successful betting is finding value. Odds-on bets often offer little to no value as bookmakers adjust the prices to reflect the high probability of the outcome. So, the risk-to-reward ratio in odds-on betting is skewed. 6. Consider the less obvious markets Mainstream betting markets, like match winners or total points, are heavily analyzed and bet on. Bookmakers price these markets rather accurately. Less obvious markets might receive a different level of attention, leading to more favorable odds or mispriced lines that savvy bettors can exploit. If you have specialized knowledge of a particular aspect of a sport, less obvious markets allow you to leverage this expertise. For example, if you thoroughly understand individual player performances in basketball, you might find great value in player-prop NBA betting. 7. Make sure you understand the market Understanding betting markets is the foundation for making informed and strategic decisions. Different markets offer different types of bets, each with its own rules and strategies. Each market requires a unique approach to research, risk assessment, and understanding of the sport. Prop bets, for example, require specific and detailed knowledge of players and teams.  A common mistake bettors make is not fully understanding the distinctions between these different markets. Failing to grasp how a point spread works can lead to misinterpreting what constitutes a winning bet. 8. Don’t bet with your heart Letting personal biases dictate betting decisions is a common pitfall in sports betting. This approach can significantly impair judgment and lead to decisions that aren’t backed by sound reasoning or statistical evidence. Emotional betting ignores important aspects that influence the outcome and includes making bets based on love for the team or player rather than on an objective analysis. In NFL betting, a fan of a particular football team might consistently bet on their team to win despite player injuries or a poor run of form. While loyalty is admirable, it misses critical factors that should improve decision-making. 9. Pick your moment The ideal timing for placing bets and live bets varies depending on the nature of the sport, the type of bet, and the specific circumstances surrounding the event. Here’s a breakdown of ideal time frames for both pre-game and live betting: Pre-game betting Early betting: Placing bets as soon as the lines are released can be advantageous, especially for seasoned bettors with a good sense of value. Early lines may not fully reflect recent developments or public betting trends, which creates betting opportunities. In NFL football betting, early lines can provide value before the market adjusts. Closer to the event: Waiting until the event starts has its benefits as well, allowing bettors to consider last-minute changes, such as injuries, weather conditions, or roster changes. In baseball betting, where starting pitchers are crucial, betting closer to game time can be wise. Market movements: Observing how the lines move and comparing odds in the days leading up to the event can provide insights into where smart money is going. For those less confident in their initial analysis, following these movements can aid in making wiser decisions. Live betting Early game observations: The beginning of the game is a critical time for live sports betting. Watching the first few minutes can give insights into the strategies teams employ, any unforeseen factors like weather impacts, or the game’s general flow. Reacting to game dynamics: A key player getting injured, a significant change in momentum after a few big plays, or a team displaying unexpected form can be good moments to consider live betting. Halftime/breaks in play: Halftimes or breaks in play, like the end of a set in tennis, are strategic times for live sports betting. They provide a moment to assess the game without the pressure of ongoing play and can be ideal for placing bets based on first-half performances or expected adjustments. Avoiding late-game betting: While tempting, betting late in the game can be risky unless you have a clear read. Those live odds are usually less favorable, and the potential for unexpected changes diminishes. 10. It pays to follow less popular sports Major sports like football, basketball, and horse racing attract much attention from bettors and bookmakers. The odds in these sports are usually sharp, as bookmakers invest significant resources in setting accurate lines. Less popular sports, however, can maintain less efficient markets.  Concentrating on a niche sport allows you to develop expertise that gives you an edge over bookmakers. With less information available publicly, your in-depth knowledge, combined with odds comparison, can be a significant advantage. You can understand nuances and details often overlooked by others, giving you a better chance to spot mispriced odds or valuable betting opportunities. What Affects Sports Betting Odds? There can be several ways where the odds on sports betting futures can change before a season begins. For example, in the last few days and weeks leading up to games, events such as trades or free agent signings can transform the underdog into one of the favorites or create an even bigger divide between the two squads. Player injuries or absences due to suspensions or personal reasons and the location of the game can affect the odds. Teams generally perform better at home, which can lead to shorter odds. In MLB betting or other outdoor sports like college football, weather conditions can impact gameplay and thus affect the odds. Past matchups between the teams or players can influence odds, especially if one team or player dominates the other consistently. The specific strategies or styles of play can influence how a team stacks up against another, affecting the odds. For example, the over/under margin on two high-scoring NBA teams will significantly increase compared to the league average. Lastly, the dynamics of the betting market can also influence odds. Bookmakers adjust odds based on where the larger portion of the money is going. If many bets are placed on one team, the odds may be adjusted to balance the action.
Online Casino Licenses: A Comprehensive Guide
If an operator of an online casino or sportsbook wants to do everything legally and “by the book,” then they must get licensed. Licensing allows casinos to operate legally and under regulation from a regulatory body of the jurisdiction they are registered. While regulations place many burdens on operators, in the end, the benefits of being legal and legitimate far outweigh both the costs and the legal limitations imposed. In this comprehensive guide on online casino licenses, we will go over the whys and hows of getting licenses. And also, take a look at some of the most popular gambling license jurisdictions to help you make your decision. What Are Online Casino Licenses? Simply put, an online gambling license is a legal document conferring the right onto a company to operate a gambling business in a given territory. Just as land-based casinos must be regulated, so do their online counterparts. In order for an operator to offer games of chance, such as video slots, table games, or sports betting, legally, they must have a license that covers the territories they want to offer the games. Getting one, however, is usually no easy feat. Not only do they cost money (depending on the jurisdiction, the licensing costs may represent a significant barrier to entry into the market), but they also create an obligation for the company to follow regulations. The exact nature of the regulations depends on the given jurisdiction. Some, like Curacao, are known for being less stringent. While for instance, the United Kingdom Gambling Commission is considered especially tough. What’s important to note is that the early days of unlicensed and “wild west” online gambling are largely over. More and more countries want to bring this form of gambling into the legal mainstream and have begun to crack down on anyone who operates illegally. Therefore, those who do so are not only risking steep fines but even potential jail time. In general, the role of the licensing authority is to make sure that all gambling, including online, is above board and safe for the consumers. Those who want to open an online casino must have a license. The hard part of this decision is actually figuring out where to pursue getting a license. Many different jurisdictions offer them, and all of them have their own pros and cons. But, with this guide in hand, you will be able to figure out most of these questions and know what to expect as you set out on the journey to get your budding online iGaming empire up, and running, and, most importantly — legal. Where And Why Should Casinos Get Licensed? When considering online casino licenses (and operators definitely should), there are a lot of things to take into account. But the most important thing to remember is that players today expect an online casino to be operating under laws and regulations. Most of the sites that review casinos make a note of the jurisdiction. Players are sensitive to this info, as they do not want to deposit their money into a venue that could be deemed unsafe. And as the events in the iGaming industry in 2021 show, more and more countries are moving to regulate all forms of online gambling. This means that to be a viable option for players today, operators must be licensed. And that is just on the perception side of things. The main reason why operators pursue gambling licenses is to protect themselves from legal liabilities and to be able to operate normally as a business. That last part is extremely important. These days, players expect to be able to deposit and withdraw money using many different payment providers and to be able to take a punt on a large catalog of games. And here’s the thing. You won’t be able to offer many payment options and many games if you’re not a licensed online casino. It’s simple. Respectable companies want to work with other respectable companies. Your fly-by-night operation simply won’t attract such game providers as NetEnt or Microgaming, sorry. In order to be able to collaborate with the best providers, whether it’s in payment, games, or the casino platform itself, you will need to be licensed and operating legally. Some who do not do so run pirated software on their sites, but this opens additional legal liability as those companies can sue for copyright and intellectual rights infringement. Since we settled the question of why it’s time to address the where of it all. We will go over the different jurisdictions in-depth a bit later in this guide, but for now, let us say this choice primarily depends on where your company is based and which market you want to go after. While all jurisdictions have their own rules and requirements, there are things they have in common in broad strokes. What is called “fit and proper persons” will have to occupy ownership and senior positions, there are tests for this. The random number generators (RNGs) in the software will have to be regularly tested and validated. Some may even ask you to publish a full RTP (return to player) list for each and every game you offer. Some clientele may be barred from playing with you, and you may need to establish limits on deposits. These are just some of the requirements, and this is by no means an exhaustive list. When considering where to get licensed, it is very important to go through the full legal requirement list. Agencies exist to help companies through this process due to the volume of work involved. How Online Casinos Apply for Gaming Licenses? Each licensing authority will have its own process of application. But there are some things that they have in common and that prospective casino operators can expect as parts of the process no matter where they apply. In general, you can expect to pay various fees (one-time and/or yearly, more on those later in this guide), deal with a considerable load of paperwork, and also wait. For a couple of months at least. Common requirements include things like background checks, business plans, proof of funds, and software and compliance checks. Depending on the jurisdiction, it may be necessary to also incorporate in the jurisdiction and to house servers in the same location too. A lot of the time, the authorities also enforce standards on platform providers so it can increase the chances of a successful application to cooperate with providers who are already licensed and reputable. Speaking frankly, getting licensed is no cakewalk. There are many checks, demands, and requirements. Criminal records will be checked, as well as passports, bank references, information on target markets, and measures to prevent minors from gambling… Anti-money laundering and know-your-customer procedures are other big parts of what is asked from prospective iGaming operators. To keep track of all of this and to avoid wasting time and funds, many companies seeking online gaming licenses employ the services of legal firms and consultancies that specialize in this area of corporate law. Note also that gambling authorities do not operate in a vacuum. They are able and willing to use inquiries with other national and international regulatory bodies to fully check your probity and get the necessary info about your background and history. Therefore, it could be argued that the best way to get through the licensing process is to be as forthcoming and transparent as possible. This goes even for those who do have blemishes in their history, as the investigation will most likely uncover them. As to how to actually begin the process, applications can be made through a licensing agent or independently. Sometimes, it will even be possible to apply online. What all online casinos or sports betting sites need to know is that while most will be operating in many countries, the legislation of the country where it is registered will always take precedence over any international laws. That is yet another thing to keep in mind. A number of gambling jurisdictions exist now, and most casinos tend to choose one of the most popular ones, such as Malta, Curacao, or Gibraltar. The choice of jurisdiction is possibly the most important step in the process, as it will dictate the rest of it. How Do Online Casinos Choose an Online Gambling License? Out of so many different options, how do companies seeking to operate online iGaming sites decide where to incorporate and which license to seek? To answer this question, companies need to think about their needs and business possibilities. This is what will guide the decision. Any type of gambling will require a license, and businesses have to get one before they go live. Before they set out on the difficult and demanding trek of licensing, online casinos take into account the requirements each jurisdiction imposes, the costs associated with the fees, and the taxation policy. Many choose to speed this process up by hiring outside help, such as lawyers. Different jurisdictions also have different reputations. Some are seen as more lenient, while some are seen as very heavy on the rules and limitations. As an example, the United Kingdom Gambling Commission has recently decided they will start regulating how fast a single round in a video slot game can be. In Sweden, the regulatory body decided to ban the offering of bonuses. There are quite a lot of factors to consider when choosing a license, and it’s of the highest importance to get it right. The Overview Of The Most Popular Gambling License Jurisdictions In this section of our guide, we’ll take a look at some of the most popular and most commonly selected online gambling jurisdictions. Each of these has its own pros and cons, opening certain opportunities while closing some others. They also vary in requirements and the costs associated, so those looking to get their online casino up and running need to have a good hard think about what might work best for their specific needs. Malta Gambling Authority Malta has for many years been the iGaming hub of Europe. That’s for a good reason, as their license is considered very reputable and offers access to the lucrative European market. The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) is the body that carries out the licensing process and confers the license to an operator. They are also the ones issuing regulations and checking compliance. MGA offers four classes of licenses. The first type gives the right to organize games of chance where the result is determined by an RNG. This is the license that you want if your online casino offers video slots and table games. The other licenses offer the ability to organize games based on event outcomes (i.e., sports betting), poker, and fantasy sports. In 2018, the body streamlined some of the taxation systems, removed the need for current holders to apply for separate licenses, and waived the monthly compliance contribution for the first 12 months of the casino’s operation. Getting licensed in Malta, however, is a long process. Prospective operators go through at least five stages which include several compliance audits. It takes 3 to 4 weeks for the application to be considered, followed by a temporary license of six months. After that, based on extensive checks, a five-year license is given. The process is definitely involved: a fit and proper check, a business planning check to ensure the viability of the business plan, a financial reserves check, and a system review. But with so many licensed online casinos and sports betting sites choosing this license, it’s clear that it is worth it. It gives access to the European market and players place a high trust in it. United Kingdom Gambling Commission Then there is the UKGC. This is the regulating body that oversees gambling in the United Kingdom and offers a host of different licenses based on what a company is doing. These include five types of remote betting ones (as an example, accepting sports betting on real events and on virtual events requires the possession of two different licenses) as well as a range of intermediately and industry licenses. This is one of the drawbacks of the United Kingdom Gambling Commission license, as operators who later want to branch out into other aspects of iGaming will need to apply for a separate license for each. In addition, the UKGC has some of the longest approval processes, which can last up to 16 weeks, and in recent years, the regulatory body has begun tightening the leash on what operators in the country are allowed to do. So, why get licensed by the UKGC at all? The UK is one of the largest contributors to the international gambling industry, generating a gross gambling yield of £2 billion between October 2011 and September 2012. There’s your answer. Before 2014, the UK had a more relaxed attitude to remote gambling, and operators from so-called “whitelisted territories” (such as Malta and Gibraltar) were able to both accept bets from Britons and to advertise in the country. Since 2014, changes in regulation mean that anyone wanting to access the UK market and advertise in it must be licensed by the UKGC. So, despite UK regulations being onerous with a trend of increasing regulatory pressure, online casinos still get licensed here due to the lucrativeness of the UK iGaming market. Curaçao Curaçao is a small island in the Caribbean with a large presence in the online iGaming industry. This is in large part due to the ease and low costs of gaining a license. How it works is that there are master licenses and sub-licenses. New operators apply for a sub-license at one of the four master license holders (they have been fixed since 1996). Master licenses are renewed every five years, and sublicenses are valid for as long as the master licenses are. The main advantage of this system is that online casinos need only one license for the entire iGaming vertical. This is in contrast to jurisdictions like the UK, where separate licenses need to be obtained to offer different kinds of gambling. Where the Curaçao license really shines is in how cheap it is. While each of the four master license holders has its own rules and fees, it is in the neighborhood of $5,000 annually. There is a one-time application fee (around $2,000) and a couple of other smaller ones. In addition, Curacao has a 0% corporate income tax and a 2% net gains tax. Getting a Curaçao license is fast and takes as little as six weeks. There are a couple of significant drawbacks, however. Casinos licensed in Curacao cannot accept players from the USA, France, the Netherlands, and Curacao itself. Overall, however, due to its simplicity and quickness, Curacao is an excellent choice for many first-time operators. Of course, such operators can always choose to be licensed somewhere else later. Gibraltar Gibraltar is another of those jurisdictions that is very attractive due to low taxes — just 1% of revenue and capped at £425,000. Quite possibly, Gibraltar is the most exclusive jurisdiction there is. Online casino owners need to prove financial solvency, provide a business plan and be ready to perform all transactions solely through banks based in Gibraltar. This jurisdiction also has some of the most stringent regulations and is the golden standard of trustworthiness and reliability. The license fee is paid in one lump sum of £100,000. But that’s far from the only thing you’d need to pony up to get a license here. Gibraltar is selective, preferring to give licenses only to already established operators that already hold reliable licenses. As it states on the regulator’s website, the authority only considers “blue chip companies with a proven track record in gambling.” And perhaps the most important thing written on that same website — “Licenses are generally difficult to obtain.” So, there you go. This is an option for established operators who want to pay fewer taxes. If you’re someone looking to get started, you’ll have to look elsewhere. Sweden’s Spelinspektionen For a long time, gambling in the country was a state monopoly. But recent changes have seen the market open up. Spelinspektionen is the regulatory body that decides who gets a license and who does not. Sweden, being a new market, is also quite stringent. The focus of the Swedish regulators is player protection and the reduction of gambling addiction. It is also a very reactive body. In 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Sweden took temporary responsible gambling measures such as a SEK 5,000 limit on deposits (around 488 ) and a bonus limit of SEK 100 (less than 10). Spelinspektionen may be seen as a very restrictive jurisdiction, but it also represents an opportunity for iGaming companies as the market gets liberalized. How Much Do Online Casino Licenses Cost? This is a tricky question as different jurisdictions charge differently for applications and may have other additional fees. Another important thing to consider is the tax rate. Prices can be quite cheap, such as in the case of Curacao. Or alternatively, expensive, such as in Gibraltar. Of course, Gibraltar offsets this high upfront license cost with a very favorable corporate gains tax rate. In Malta, which remains the most popular way to get into the European iGaming market, the application fee is €5,000, and the annual license fee is fixed at €25,000. New tax rules since 2018 will see online casinos with the B2C Type 1 license (that’s the one that lets you offer video slots) pay annual taxes on a progressive scale: of 1.25% if the profits do not exceed €3 million and 1% for profits up to €4.5 million and so on. If a casino makes up to €10 million, it will only pay 0.55% in taxes. So for those companies that are very successful, Malta is clearly an excellent choice. In general, depending on the jurisdiction, the fees will be different. So anyone looking to get one of these licenses will have to weigh the costs. In Sweden, for instance, casinos can expect to end up with licensing costs of between €229,950 and €257,450 based on the number of founders (this total includes things such as local servers and management fees). FAQ on Online Casino Licenses What is an Offshore Casino License? An offshore gaming license simply means that the provider works remotely from their home country, but their operation takes place without locally imposed restrictions. A very large number of online casinos today have these types of gaming licenses that enable them to work from one country while serving gamblers in many different territories where their license is accepted. Why Should I Get a Gambling License For My Casino? As online iGaming has become more and more widespread, governments have started regulating it. At the same time, players want to play at casinos that are fair and legitimate. Therefore, getting a license is essential to being able to be a proper player in the iGaming market. Not to mention that payment processors, banks, and software suppliers will only work with regulated casinos. This essentially means that operating properly as an online iGaming venue is not possible without a license from a competent gaming authority. How Do I Obtain a Gambling License? The first step in obtaining an online casino license is figuring out which markets your casino wants to serve. After that, you will look into what jurisdictions can give you a license that will enable you to do business. There will probably be more than one, so things like license fees, tax rates, and more will factor into your decision. Given the complexity of this task, many prospective casino owners seek out help from legal firms to complete this process.
